You are a lucky man with those rims. The cleaning of our 18 inch rims is just horrible...They look extremely good, but when it comes to cleaning, I would really like to have the standard Avantgarde rims. :D

Those sports rim looks awsome, but yeah they look like a bit*h to clean. Cleaning my wheels are very easy because the dirt doesn't stick on the clear coat, isn't that the case for your wheels? The only problem i have is cleaning the edges of the star on the center cap. The dirt+brake dust just doesn't want to leave.

Some new interior shots. I traveled from Hanover to Greifswald and back home, yesterday. I drove 850 km and 9:00 hours. The journey to Greifswald was great - I did the 405 km in 3 hours. The sun was shining and it was absolutely relaxed - little traffic and experienced drivers, who also love to drive fast. :D I used the Autobahn 7, the A1 and the new A20.
The A20 is absolutely great - comparable to the Autobahns in Switzerland, but also the curves are extremely sustained - so it's also challenging... The Autobahn 20 has also some corrugations - there I realized, how good the suspension of our E-Class is. I drove over one with more then 200 km/h and "yes" the suspension is amazing. :)

The way back home was horrible - at the beginning the sun was shining, but then it began to rain. :( Nevertheless I drove the completely way with sunglasses (the sun got through the clouds sometime and then you couldn't see nearly nothing on the wet road) - the glance of the people, who passed me, was so funny - it was raining and I had may glasses on. :D And it looked like no one ever see someone driving with gloves). At the A1 (near Hamburg) the road was "flooded"! I never had so extrem aquaplaning - the car was stable anyway, but a BMW 3-series driver in front of me (the driver was to fast, apparently), was only a passenger...the rest of the trip was terrible, too. Traffic congestions, terrible driving people (I don't know, if I drove the same way), a lot of trucks and so on...I need 4:30 hours for the trip back to Hanover...

So, here are some photos of my trip:

after refueling the 80 litre tank.

the A20:

This road was in Greifswald - the displayed speed was the absolut maximum, you could do at this road. :D

How quiet and stable is the car at around 200km/h or more? I wish i can take our E-class up to those speed but it is just impossible in Australian roads.

It really depends on the road and weather conditions. Normally the car is extremely stable. When the wind begins to blow, you really feel that the E-Class is bigger then a SLK or smaller car - nevertheless you can drive fast. (But you need both hands at the steering wheel (I personally wouldn't drive at high speed with one hand, but my father do and then the car begins to get restive)
I'm also extremely impressed by the brakes of our E-Class (we just got two new front discs, four new brake blocks and two new back wheels) - I had to make an emergency brake after an Opel Vectra wanted to overtake another car with 120 km/h. Mercifully the C-Class behind me also slowed down immediately. :)

I also notice, that the E-Class handles better (also at high-speeds) with the 18' summer tyres. With winter tyres (17'), the car handles spongily - especially when you drive fast.
The winter tyres are registered to speeds up to 240 km/h - it's amazing, how different the car handles at that speed. Especially in curves, I don't want to miss the summer tyres - it really gives you a feeling of safety. :usa7uh:

The stopping power provided by the SBC system is pretty dam good, espically during emergency braking, the car just stops dead. Btw what is wrong with your brakes, does it need replacement for the discs, blocks and the back wheels as well with only 57700km on the clock?

It was the first time, that we had to replace the discs on the front - but the second time, we had to replace the blocks (first time after 23.000 km , second time with 56.500 km on the clock)! I don't know, why we have to change them that often... ... Maybe it's because of our Autobahn driving. We drive about 80 % on Autobahns and if you have to slow down the heavy E-Class, it "punish" the brakes more then normal. :t-hands:

The replacement of our back wheels was because my father hit the left wheel on a curbiside. The flank of the wheel was damaged and we decided (because for the reason of safety), that we are going to replace the back wheels. :usa7uh:

Aftering seeing the new C-class in person, i do feel the design of the E-class is starting to date a little.

Me too. But if they did so much for the new C-Class I'm sure they will do an even better job with the new E.

So far from the spy photos and CGI, the new E's front end styling will be very angular and aggressive which I like, but I don't like the new horizontal tailights.

Some new pictures I took on the Autobahn! I stand 1 1/2 hours in a traffic jam...so I had the time to play with my camera. :D

First of all a photo, I took before the jam. The CDI is just the perfect travel car...

I know, that I really have to clean the interior. :D

I didn't took any outside shots. It was raining and I had no need to walk over the Autobahn.

This is one cool photo. I have been thinking for a while, is that little light LED or just normal ones. It doesn't look that bright during the day but at night time you can see the light cast a subtle warm yellow glow onto the dashboard, which is nice. Do you set the ambient lighting to the brightest?

We don't set the Ambient Light to the brightest level. It's on level 2, I think! In my opinion the brightest level is a bit to bright and I don't really like a full illuminated cockpit - the Ambient Light for the backseats is switched off. I only turn it on, when we travel with three or more person. Nevertheless I really like the function of the Ambient Light and it's indirect lighting.
But I'm also glad, that we don't have any Navigation system (portable or Command) - I'm a friend of maps (because the don't talk and they have no illumination)! :usa7uh:

I just set all of them at level 2. Map is my worst enemy, I cannot read or follow them, so the sat nav is useful. The speed and accuracy is reasonable but I prefer it to have earlier warnings about when and where to turn cause for most of the time I am going too fast and miss the turn.

Here goes a recent shot .....
