It's my opinion that they could take the fresher styiling changes to the lights, bumpers, etc. and just apply this to a regular ML, and you'd be able to sell that many more MLs as opposed to going to the trouble of adding a new model. Instead, the ML facelift will still be a tired, uber conservative look.
Absolutely agree. What I see from ML Facelift does not produce enough extra appeal to re-position it against other “sexy” options like Range Rover Sport, or X5. It seems that MB prefers to keep the current W166 positioning as very conservative. Enclosed interesting info from Audi Q7 MY2015 Product Information Book and buyers positioning. Take your own conclusions.
It’s baffling. Do they think the restyling is god enough to refresh the product? Do they think the people that don’t like the current ML should prefer a MLC over a RRS or X5 option? Should they await for a future W167 to really restyling it to compete against other options? Do they create a new option with the upcoming GLK?
We will see…
