The previous CLS had a 40% stiffer body structure than the previous E.

I`m pretty sure the same stands for the new CLS.

That's impossible. The previous CLS was 40% stiffer than the W211? Where does it state this?

I'd be surprised if the current CLS is stiffer at all than the E-Class (I'd assume, if anything, it's otherwise, as the E usually takes the functional route, however, I'd assume that they're about equal), especially considering how stiff the E is. The W212 is on a whole different level of solidity from the W211.

The monocoque of the previous CLS was 30% stiffer than the E Class it was based on.

After driving a CLS550, I envy every CLS owner. I haven't been this excited about a Mercedes since the W221 was launched.

Glad you got the AMG wheel, a much better option in the new CLS.
I wanted to ask you if the steering is light like it is with a normal steering wheel? It's my only gripe with the new CLS, but it's not a big deal.

I have the car now for about four months,,,,,,I am still mesmerized,,,,dazed,,,,in car heaven,,,,,WOW!!!! (And mine is a diesel!!)
I got the "Airmatic Suspension", steering is finger light but most responsive!! I don´t see how it could be any better!!

I had a hell of a time convincing my dealer to get me the carbon fiber trim, as it´s not an option here in Europe in the CLS350, but he came through, and it is "AWESOME",,,pictures do it injustice,,,it is a work of art,,,,,(Yes, I´m in love!!)

Took me a few months to decide between the CLS and the BMW 640D,,,,,good thing the BMER is only coming out now,,,went to Geneva, saw them almost side by side, and came home with my mind made up,,,,placed the order in March, got the car in June.

I am so happy with my decision!!!

I lke the BMW 640D coupe, but this CLS,,,,,,wow, what a head turner!!!! Almost too much!! What a presence on the road,,,!!!

I could go on and on,,,,,,

Just gotta take some other pictures of it, because for some reason, the ones I have, just fail to upload (gotta get my son´s help )

I envy you you have a greta great car i love the new CLS just my family say its not practical for us so i stick with my lovely E class which i love but i would swap anyday for a CLS 350CDI..Tell me hows the new motor i have a E350cdi but its not the upgraded motor..

The motor is super smooth (works like a swiss watch),,,powerful (this is a "diesel" 265 bhp,,puts my CLK200 Komp "gasoline", 198bhp, to shame!) ,,,responsive (step on the gas pedal, and it´s out of there!),,,,silent (almost can´t hear it´s a diesel, certainly not on the inside, have to look at the tach to know it´s working!)
Need I say more???

Only drawback,,,,,,what a hole it left in my bank account,,,
I did the math, and if I lived in the USA, I could have bought a CLS63 AMG, fully loaded and still have money left for a few months worth of gas!!

DAMN TAXES!!!! I´m doing my best to help get this country get back on it´s feet, by pumping tons of euros back into the economy!!! I pay in and the damn politicians spend like there is no tomorrow!! Oh well,,,can´t have everything!!

Nice color,,,,,,also those AMG triple five spoke wheels were my choice, but only available in 19", not too good for the tires , here in Portugal!!
Oh well, I´m happy with mine, with the little black inserts!!

At the Auto Show, I gotta say, a LOT of people during my even short time with the new CLS there, were saying that they didn't like it as much as the previous version. Then my friend randomly walks up at the same time another guy is saying it, and says it as well. The stubby-upward side crease seems to be off putting to lots of people.

Seldom have I been so "on/off" and "love/hate" regarding an automobile. One thing for sure: the CLS is certainly not boring. And its' interior is simply gorgeous.

You guys know what I hate about the new CLS,,,,,,,,the damn hole it left in my bank account,,,!!!

That´s it!!! If MB cut the price in half you would see how many haters would become lovers,,, I can live with the stubby-upward side crease!!!
I also "hate" the Aston Martin DBS, the Ferrari California, the Bently Continental, the Ferrari 599 GTO and so on and so on,,,why??? because of the even bigger hole they would leave in my account, that´s the only reason!!!

There is a saying here in Portugal,,,"Quem desdenha , quer comprar!" means, "He who says bad things about it, wants to buy it!"

This is just my two bits, I don´t want to step on any toes !!

Well, that's not really true at all. If that was the case, everything expensive would be nice, and would sell well, because everyone would want it. Obviously that isn't always the case.

Bugatti Veyron,, super expensive, in my opinion, super ugly! If I had an extra million laying around, would I buy it,?? Never !!! I could think of "ten" cars I would before a Veyron!! (Again, only my opinion!!)

My "dream" or "target" car is the Aston Martin DBS, although I don´t like the interior,,,,would I buy it!?? YES, I could live with the Unliked interior, just to have the Exterior, which "I" consider a work of art !!!

CLS, to me is also a beauty to look at, and the interior,,,well Mercedes should teach a thing or two to Aston Martin about interiors,,,!!
