CLS-Class (C218) Mercedes-Benz CLS (C218) Picture Thread

The C218 Mercedes-Benz CLS is the second generation of the Mercedes CLS-Class range of four-door coupé sedans. It is succeeded by the CLS (C257). Body styles: C218 (4-door coupé), X218 (5-door shooting brake). Production: January 2011 – December 2017
Black is always hot on any benz.
But white is the way to go with this car..to show off its curves ;)

Or if your KA go all black cause he hates the lines..haha:D

LOL! :D

Black indeed hides them. I only really hate ONE freakin' line, but whaddaya gonna do.

I still think White is epic on this car, nonetheless.

If I had one, I'd probably do the same things i've done to my E and call it a day. AMG Package obviously of course, then some tasteful tints and smoking, rear AMG spoiler, and finally, instead of the Pano that I currently have, I'd wrap the roof in gloss black.

LOL! Most likely candidate at the moment if I don't keep with the E for a very long haul. :D

Maybe I can do reconstructive surgery on that crease, haha.

Could it be possible that the CLS63 AMG will look stunning in any color ?

So far, regardless of whether red, silver, grey, white or black, it's been absolutely epic. I'm sure that it would be equally as gorgeous in a nice pearlescent darker blue (like that E63 AMG photograph posted on these forums not too long ago) or a darker metallic green. Or a mocca brown metallic ? A burnt orange like on the BMW 1M coupe ?

The possibilities appear almost limitless.

There is something very enticing, very atmospheric about the way these photographs of the CLS63 AMG in southern California captivate the viewer.

For me, they evoke images of an era that was characterized by ostentatious oppulence and glamour. The yearning for that particular place with a warm and sunny climate and the excitement of being in close proximity to movie stars and other various celebrities. Hollywood of the late 1940s' and 1950s'. The glamourous personalities of the day cruising the boulavards in 1949 Cadillac 62 Fastbacks ,1953 Buick Skylark convertibles, Mercedes-Benz 300S coupes/convertibles , Jaguar XK 120s' or Mark VIIs'.

And as remote as that connection may appear, the new CLS somehow captures that spirit.

Many ascertain that the CLS is a typically German car. I beg to differ. It is absolutely cosmopolitan, but will be most fitting appearing on the roads of SoCal, the Cote Azur or perhaps Dubai. Where there is plenty of sunshine and glamour.

I agree and I feel that as well. I also feel that this is exactly the vibe that Wagener and co. attempted to create with this car.

I also agree in that it is against the very definition of a typical German car in the at least modern-classic sense, but does evoke a German spirit of some very early German cars. Either way, I see it as a cosmopolitan spirited car, designed more for the American market than the German one. Of course, the Mercedes Benz character is still intact, which still speaks of its German bloodline. It isn't as classically German as say, an E or S Sedan.

Starting to trickle in at showrooms:)

Oh sh**. I'm actually excited. That looks good. EXACTLY how I'd want it. :D Any pics of it next to that previous CLS? I like how the green house is noticeably bigger this time, even if it does give it a Sedan appearance next to the more Coupe like first gen (I prefer a Sedan look overall anyway).

If anyone comes across of a pic of it next to a W212 please post it! It will be a while until we get them in showrooms in the States, and I want to get a perception on how it will look on the roads by being next to a car that I'm most familiar with (my own).

Love it. What color is this and will it be available on the non-AMG version?

The A7 has grown on me but I still think the new CLS is the best looking car in this class.

One may say what one will regarding the side sculpturing and other design details on the new CLS. But the view of the cars' side profile shows:

This car is perfectly proportioned. Relationship of hood, greenhouse, rear deck dimensions, wheelbase and overhangs...pretty much as good as it gets.

Should the CLS be the precursor to M-Bs' recently announced architecture oriented design paradigm for future models, I would speculate that M-B automobiles in general will become absolute eye feasts.

The new S-Class is due for introduction in 2013. It shall provide evidence as to whether M-B really means business ! The heavily camoflagued prototypes captured on film recently leave me sceptical. However, the new CLS initially left me with very mixed feelings about the car. I now find it nothing less than brilliant.
