Well they aren't the same, thats why I asked. The CLK-DTM has a different look from the F1 car.

damn did someone listen to the sound from the safety car.. in the last GP..
swedish broadcast had a camera on the roof of the car as it went around the track before the race..
the damn sound was crazy.. i dont think other CLK63´s sound like that.. it have to be speciall or something.. but it was crazy

There's nothing better than the sound of a big-bore V8 in the morning. That is unless you can lower the car's top at the touch of a button and enjoy it all the more, like we did in the 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG.

The new 6.2-liter engine, designed from scratch by the powerhouse AMG division of Mercedes-Benz, features a wildly "oversquare" design; that is, the diameter of the cylinder bores (102.2mm) is larger than the stroke (94.6mm) of the pistons.

In other words, you can almost distinguish each discrete explosion as the high-compression (11.3:1) engine bellows through the free-flow dual-tipped exhaust. For gearheads, it's one of those uniquely identifiable exhaust signatures that can only come from an engine of that design.

Yes, that oversquare engine design kinda tells me that there's plenty more rpm to come from this engine too... I can't wait to hear this thing roar.
(My mate's C55 sounds pretty spectacular so I'm expecting even better acoustics from the '63 engine)

I just read somewhere(forgot just as quick as glanced through) that the U.S. won't be getting the CLK63 coupe, which isn't such a bad thing since the difference in acceleration times are negligible. For those that didn't know on these shores, now you know.

Yeah I figured we wouldn't get the coupe version since they pulled the CLK55 Coupe a while ago.

I read something along those lines to. Looks like we won`t be getting the CLK63 coupe here in the US, That sux! I also read the demand for the CLK droptop is really high. I guess that goes for the AMG version as well.

I really liked the CLK63 Cabriolet, I sat in it at the NY Auto show. I liked steering wheel and the paddels (much better to reach than the buttons) and the interior overall, but what's up with no COMAND in a CLK63? That was a turnoff.

I hope they blow us away with the next gen CLK interior because the one now just isn't cutting it. It looks terrible.

That might have been a post production model much like the one edmunds tested. There will be a COMMAND system for American version CLK63s
