CLK-Class (C209) Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.

Damn! Mercedes Benz are on a horsepower rampage. 415 hp M3? 415 hp RS4...?

Affalterbach: "Pffff. Vee vil make it und round 480 hp and add vun just to be shooore."

Sweet mercy. That's a formidable package...

haha. Just as BMW got done with 1000's of hours of engineering and testing the V8 in the M3 mercedes comes out with a more powerful enigne for the C class. Well this vwill ve very intwesting. Mercedes is now leading the HP war, officially. Who will win the heart of the consumer? only time will tell.

Yes, exactly. I can't think that BMW are too pleased at the prospect of and MB competitor pushing out 65 horses more from an engine that's got 2.2 litres more than the anticipated M3 V8 and weighs about the same!

Then again, this isn't anything new. Mercedes have, traditionally, always had bigger displacement, bigger torque engines than their M counterparts.

Still, hot dang, 630 Nm in a CLK...? Now that's some muscle. More, in fact than, a new 911 Turbo sans sport chrono package.

The difference is that BMW doesnt just throw one engine into several different cars, but builds a new engine from the ground up designed for each individual car. They could have thrown the V10 in the M3 if mercedes can put the 6.2 litre in the C class but instead they built an engine that made sence for the weight and chassis. Thats just one stlye of designing automobiles, Im not saying its good or bad.

I doubt that the v10 'ld pass in the serie3 without heavy mods....

so...that the c-class get a v8 is not new...since w202!!....bmw are just following the move with the new m3...

LOL this is sick 480hp.. haha .. i cant wait until the tests..
and it looks gr8 to.. :D

Happy days boys:D

that's an impresive powerboost!!! from 367 ps of the NA 5.5 to this!! hope they've done a great job with the chassis and springs!!!

and I 'm sure there isn't a lot of differences between this version of the 6.3 and the cls one.....must be electronic or exhaust......so the power must be easy recoverable...

I'm curious what the mb tuners 'll do with this masterpiece of engine...!

I think the reason why it didnt get the full 514hp is because the next gen CLK will get it. For now 480hp will do lolz :usa7uh:

Yea I reckon 480bhp is just enough! :D

This is insane, and at the same time kinda of exciting! AMG are really going for it. I wonder when the SLK will get this new engine, and when it does, where will that leave the SL which only has a bit more power!

I have always liked the CLK55 but it hasn't really sold well here, now it has this kind of power I'm sure it will sell like hot cakes!

What's next, a 350bhp A and B class! :eusa_danc

Forget CLK vs. M3, which isn't out yet.. err yeah Porsche's 911 Turbo's engine just looked a lot more mundane..

(ok so a Porsche is a Porsche, don't get me wrong, and I love it.. but the new top 911 just got equalled by a whole slew of Mercedes?)

I just hope the handling will at least be sufficient for the celebrations about the engine to continue.

The power is really incredible for such a car especially combined with 7G-tronic.
Even though the CLK63 AMG is not really a true rival to the M5 due the segment difference but it could make the M5 run for its money on a straight line.

The M5 is most of its times faster on accelerations in comparisons with the CLS55 AMG and the E55 AMG just because of it's 7 speed gearbox advantage. AMG was lacking behind with its 5 speed gearbox. But since they now have a 7 speed gearbox as well I really really wonder how it'll compare now.

Concerning the handling I somehow still think the M5 is the better car though.
But if AMG approached their cars just like the way they did to the SLK55 AMG, that would great.

Personally I think the reason for not having the full 514 HP is because it would be too fast, faster than the more premium models of Mercedes like the CLS, SL for example. Mercedes customers don't want that kind of thing happen when they purchase a more expensive car than the CLK and get beaten by it on a straight line.
Now matter which generation, the CLK is always behind in poweroutput in comparison with the likes of CLS and SL.

AMG did a good job on the SLK55 AMG, hopefully they applied the same approach to the CLK, CLS and in the future AMG's.

like the CLS rimms..these are lovely to.. just a very elegant and striking car lovin it..
i cant wait to see the tests.. i feel that handling might be xtra ordinary for a AMG..or atleast i hope so..
i wonder how much it costs.. i hope not more than the RS4.. if so to hell with the RS4...hahaha

hey hey after some analysis lol aren't they the same?????

lol I think the only difference is that the CLS rims are 19's and the CLk's are 18's

WOW! I love the subtle changes!! this car looks fantastic!
480hp! that is more than a 100hp leap from the CLK55! Oh man this thing is going to sound like a huge thunderstorm when the revs get going. The CLK55
was already powerful sounding but this OMG!

Those wheels look fantastic and the seats might be some of the best in class.
With these power figures this new model is going to be faster than the new
RS4. Handling should be improved as well. Can`t wait for the tests! :eusa_danc

Those are the best looking rims mercedes has ever made. (PERIOD)

i'm not sure if i like the 63 badge on the side yet, but who cares the car is absolutely awsome. there is only one word to describe it, hot.

Look at that, they finally made the CLK look fairly attractive. I still don't like the c-pillar though.

It looks pretty good but I must say that I wish AMG would develop a new body kit. It's just a tweak of the old design. I want somethign new and fresh. I love the rims though.

I can't wait to see what aftermarket tuners do to these cars. I'm sure they will find a way to make the transmission stronger. You know the Brabus version is going to be a monster.
