Somehow having a convertible version of a car like this defeats the purpose of owning such an extreme car.
That said, I've always thought the convertible CLK-GTR to be very appealing... Never mind that that car's hardly a true road car, I remember when Tiff drove the CLK-GTR (coupé) on Top Gear years ago, the car actually caught fire...

I see you caught my gaffe before I could edit my post, Bum-Man.

I never liked the road-going version of the CLK-GTR. The street-versions of the Le Mans winning Porsche GT1 were more appealing. I really miss the days when the cars in endurance and sports car racing looked like road cars. I don't like the prototype class that always wins Le Mans today.

I forgot about the EVO II. It was based on the DTM, but not a near identical version like the CLK-DTM. I can only find limited edition DTM cars from 2004 and 2005 available for sale to the general public.

The CLK-DTM is not a near identical car to the racing version very much more than the Evo II was in 1990. The components shared between the race and road car are probably slim to none.

Yes that is right, carbon. Road car and race car are not nearly the same. The DTM is still the intended road-going version of the race car. I liked the EVO II. The EVO I just looked like the limited Sportsline version of the 190.

I think the CLK-DTM was a step in the right direction for MB, especially with their recent press release. It seems that they are trying to hone the driving experience of their cars and give them a more sporting character instead of just being hot rodded Benzes.

But this version is stupid and unnecessary. I guess they know they can sell more, and if they're profitable then "why not?". I don't think the convertible version should be a CLK-DTM as it is not in the sporting character of the vehicle.

you know what guys i took those pics from the Amg website.. they added the cab so go and check it out..there is one super nice pic wich isnt working.. i hope they fix it soon..

Just me the cab could be there cause the coupes are sold out.. but if it is they will keep it hidden.. like they did at the premiere at the IAA..so you need to find someone important and ask for it.. i asked 3 persons 2 of them worked for MB and didnt know what car it was..hahha.. but one guy told us to hush and took us to a room with only the CLK DTM in it.. so ask around..

That was the CLR.

clr?i thought it was the clk gtr lm?

why are you all mixing clk-gtr and clr....

the clr has a so good aerodynamism and shape it can fly !! the clk gtr lm is a year older and don't fly! but didn't win le mans either...

haa well CLR sounds like a future cross between the R-class and the CL lol
i always thought the only le mans version was the clk gtr lm, hence the lm bit ha, thanks for them nice pics explaining it! ha. i think MB should have another go at le mans!

That is really just a beautiful pic, i think every CLK owner should sport for that package, aftermarket or not. It is just awesome. The look of this car makes it supercar like. Drop dead beautiful.
