C-Class Mercedes-Benz C-Class BlueEFFICIENCY Range Debut at Geneva

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.
thx for the articles, so this is what they came up with after breaking the partnership with VW? or is this something completely different?

just a question hopefully someone can answer, i've read in many articles saying how great (and low) the aerodynamic drag is on the new c-class, and they state the numbers. but anyone know where i can get the numbers for similar sedans as a comparison? (say, the bmw 3 series, lexus is, or just any reasonably comparable sedan)

When the W203 showed up, warts and all, MB said it's Cd was .27. Then the W204 appeared and MB said IT'S Cd was .27. Guess what number the W211 has. You guessed it.
.27

I think their meter is stuck.

Re: Mercedes-Benz launching BlueEFFICIENCY C-Class range

True.

Since eg. current auto tranny is not compatible with StartStop, but new ZF 8-speed coming in the Fall is. But all models with auto tranny still has other ED features like special aerodynamic solutions, brake energy regeneration, power saving systems, weight saving measures taken etc.

Of course there are some exceptions - like E65/66 7er since it is in the last months of its lifecycle.

My intention was to point out different approaches BMW, MB, VW, Audi are taking regarding "eco" models. While BMW are introducing EfficientDynamics solutions in almost every model across the line where currently possible, others are offering special models.

:t-cheers:

I agree. making special (and of course more expensive) eco-models makes few sense. BMW solution of implementing eco-systems in every car is much better and gives them an obvious advantage over MB and BMW.

It makes the cars more attractive compared to the competition, and helps reducing the line-up CO2 emission.

MB and Audi were surprised, and did not react fast enough. They will do like BMW, but right now they only have these "quickly-developped" eco models.

That was a good one, lol

Wait, hold on. Anyone notice the sideview mirrors on the C-class? Just like the FL models and unlike the one that came originally with the W204. Means Benz is really abandoning it altogether. I seem to recall in initial tests on the w204 some testers complained that the mirrors seemed to disrupt refinement at speeds above about 80mph. I guess this effectively rules out the w204 sideviews for the upcoming E class as well. Oh, and i think these new ones look better than the original btw.
Soz if this has been pointed out already, I'm not here everyday these days lol..

Don't be sorry. Good observation / theory. It adds to the discussion. :t-cheers:

Seeing I have to wait till Aug/sep for new C350 Sport AMG package, what are the chances if it having the new motor ?
