Not only is it very similar without going bankrupt to the CLK GTR
amg one is like no other in the world and will never be forgotten. It will be one of the most valuable pieces of collections. Like every special Mercedes..
It's important to remember that the CLK GTR was not considered a success (in street car terms) in its own era. It was seen as too ugly and slower than the F1 to be worthy of high praise. Its iconic status is partly a byproduct of the passage of time and retrospection.

As for the AMG One way way too early to say anything.
If I remember correctly, the CLK GTR is basically a reverse engineered Mclaren F1, right? It's been along time since I looked at the statistics, but the Mclaren F1 is the GOAT. If I remember it was never designed to go production racing. But I'll leave it at that because the CLK GTR was/is a monster too. As for the AMG One way way too early to say anything. It's got more lap records than Aston.
And whether we like that or not it's the truth.
It's high praise is due to its dominance in GT1 at the time, and the fact that those accolades could not exist without the homologation road car.
It will win precisely f#ck all, it won't be elligible for competition, and the Formula 1 fanboyism it's hoping to capitalise on is unfounded as this car is not F1 legal and the F1 cars your might associate it with do not require this car to exist in order to go racing. It's a cash in, nothing more.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie isn't really eligible either? It might still be but I don't think it'd compete so what?
Some of the Aston Martin guys and the Mclaren Solus squad are just as the AMG fangirls if not worse. I've been around all of them.
As for AMG One wasn't designed for racing to my knowledge. The Valkyrie was, and now what? Nothing. So, things change.
As it stands AMG 4 Czinger 2 (if you count it) Aston 1.
None of them are going racing so it's doesn't matter, none of them will be GT racers unless something radical happens.
Yeah, err.. so I'm not making a case for the Aston or the Czinger either. The CLK GTR did go racing, as did many cars we affectionately remember from yesteryear... perhaps Hypercars these days are just a bit shit... I've no skin in that game.
I don't remember a Ferrari f40 or a Porsche carrera gt participating in the races. They don't need it to be remembered. You're a jealous BMW fan looking for fault, that's the truth.CLK GTR

Fanboys will of course preserve the memory of the AMG One, so you are correct, it won't be forgotten any time soon, as though that's any kind of metric for something being good when the internet ensures no-one forgets anything.

The current racing series is called hypercars but isn't. Production hypercar racing is gone it seems.

I susepect that's ignorance as much as lack of memory, but, FWIW, the F40 LM raced at Le Mans against the Mclaren F1 GTR, Venturi 600LM, Supra GT LM, NISMO GT-R LM, SARD MC-8R, Jaguar XJ220, NSX GT1 and Lister Storm... one of the finest looking grids ever to start the 24 Hours, IMHO...

According to classic.com, the F40 LM is the most expensive F40 to be sold at auction.

Quite, as I said, at the very least fanboys and the internet will see to that.
Jealous of what exactly? A car that I've said since day one is stupid idea, in a class of car I'm indifferent to, that looks a bit crap and sounds rubbish, from a manufacturer I'm happy to admit (in this very thread) has made some desirable supersports cars in the past? I'm sad there's no genuine GT1 era homologation special from BMW to lust after, such as the CLK GTR & 911 GT1, but I don't give a shit that there's not an equivalent to the AMG One.
He might be slightly mad, but this is why I like what Jim Glickenhaus does, I hope the 007 sells enough units to enable production. As for racing of other hypercars, the GT1 Sports Club is probably the closest thing, but it doesn't seem to amount to much more than an expensive track day, and they don't come to the UK, so ... </shrug>
The Ferrari F40 LM went racing.
It was never built as a proper street car, they only built road legal versions because they had to.
Yes—why I emphasized the initially subdued praise for the CLK GTR as a street car. The point stands, nevertheless: Its current status is not as much due to its pedigree as a once-great race car; rather, the street car version has been much fetishized as of late and become highly collectible in the process. It was never built as a proper street car, they only built road legal versions because they had to.
The SCG007 is the only car other than the cancelled production hypercar from Toyota (I'll never buy a Yaris now!) that remotely stands a chance of production. But Jim did set out some timelines if I remember correctly.
It's marching on and homologation (I hate it sometimes) had to be done and I haven't seen much proof or information but I'm out of the loop a little. The 003CS (?) is taking time. I'm only aware of the English ladies "Zebra" interior one.
Apparently Vanwall have a street legal version of the 680 that they will sell to the public.
