Mazda has published a teaser image for the CX-4 crossover set to premiere next month at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show.

It was as the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show where Mazda took the wraps of the Koeru and now the concept is just about ready to make the transition to a production model. It’s going to wear the “CX-4” moniker and will adopt a coupe-like roofline which will enable a sleek side profile and hopefully it will still offer a decent amount of rear headroom.

The CX-4 will use Mazda’s latest iteration of the appealing KODO design language in a crossover expected to carry over most of the Koeru’s dimensions. The concept was 181 inches (4.6 meters) long, 74.8 inches (1.9 meters) wide, 59 inches (1.5 meters) tall, and had a wheelbase spanning at 106 inches (2.7 meters).

Without going into too many details, Mazda says the CX-4 will feature the full array of SKYACTIV technologies wrapped in a “striking appearance” which will set it apart from the current crop of crossovers. It will borrow most of its underpinnings from the CX-5 and according to company CEO Masamichi Kogai it is going to provide “more driving pleasure” compared to the other CX-badged models.

The Mazda CX-4 will be officially revealed on April 25 during the first press day of the Beijing Motor Show.
