Maybach Strikes Out Down Under

At one time it was West Palm Beach Florida, wonder what happened.
when was that Marcus?

I have known the Bev Hills has been a major market for many years now. There is some serious money in Florida too so no doubt it is still one of the biggest markets for Rolls in the world. The US economy is still vastly wealthier than every other nation.

Could have been back in the early 90's when Rolls and Bentley were still together and they counted both, but I do remember reading this. I'll have to see if I can find anything on it.

Even if the riches decided the want to spend there million on a car, they want something special and this is where RR completely destroys the Maybach. For whatever reason, if someone decide they want a Maybach, when they walk into the dealership they will find their Maybach buried under a pile of A-class or B-class. I visited one of those sales representatives of Maybach last year, and the Maybach was sitting among the A-class and the B-class Mercedes, in a quiet corner. You won't even notice the car is there.
Interesting Monster.

I wonder if selling cars like this alongside more common vehicles has any real effect on sales or not :t-hands:

DCX did invest a lot of money in key markets (particularly the US) setting up "centers of excellence" ...which are all about creating an "experience" to convey a powerful aura of high exclusivity around the whole brand.

Despite disappointing sales, I think the Maybach brand could have a bright future if they get the next one right for the market.

I don't really think so. MB send information packages to the people on the top 100 richest list in Australia once in a while , and MB will send representatives to where ever their potential customers are located to give them personal presentation of the Maybach, so the entire purchasing process doesn't really involve setting foot inside the dealership at all. Having said that, placing the Maybach along side more common vehicles won't do the Maybach image any good.

Well my local dealer no longer has a Maybach studio, but of course you can still get one from them.

M

^ Really ....they closed the Maybach studio. Wow.

Any idea on how many they sold there Marcus?

Not sure how many my dealer sold, but I'll ask. Maybach did manage to sell 156 Maybach last year in the U.S, an incredible 6.8 percent increase over 2006...lol!

There was an article out some months ago about a lot of U.S. MB dealers giving up their Maybach franchises.

I did read that post ....do you read any of mine?

I said, those people will more than likely end up buying a Bentley Continental Flying Spur .....because that is exactly what has happened.

I did. ;)

Personally I think, as ugly as the new Bentley Continental is, it still has more presence and a more interesting design than the Maybach. I think in this class, the Maybach is clearly the most conservative design there is.

This shouldn't be.

In Europe, you can essentially only see a Maybach at a Mercedes-Benz dealership located in a major city. For example, the MB dealer in my town has never had a Maybach or SLR. Next, the major MB dealers in the big cities have their own little "Maybach section" which is located pretty far away from the Mercedes' cars. At least this is the layout in Munich, Stuttgart and Berlin.

Here in Sydney we have 2 dealerships which sells the Maybach, I have no idea how the Maybach is sold in other cities. The showroom here are no way as big as those in Germany so I guess the dealers have to make use of the space they have now. Have you been to those "Maybach sections" before Christian?

I see. :usa7uh:

Nope, I've never been inside the Maybach section. It's essentially this massive glass and metal wall with a guarded door. Only serious customers are allowed inside. :usa7uh:

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
