GranTurismo Maserati GranTurismo

The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of grand tourers produced by Maserati, succeeding the Maserati Coupé and Spyder.
The SL is a roadster..
this is 6er class.. the closest MB has to this is the CLS

Nah bro. The Maser sits far above any 6er or CLS, until RR comes out w/ a lower range coupe BMW will have NO competitor to this car, and as Rob said the CL is a competitor to the Maser GT. Speaking of the CL, it would look most comical next to the exquisitely designed Maser, I must say.:D

i cant comment about the price but i feel that it will be more exclusive than the cl or 6er, just how the 4portte seems more special and exclusive than the other 3 german luxury cars. There is just something about Italian cars i guess

I never subscribed to the whole "just how the 4portte seems more special and exclusive than the 3 german luxury cars", not to me! Maybe in the Supercar segment, but not in the luxury saloon class. This class requires excellent's in every aspect of it's purpose, the Quattroporte hasn't achieved such honors yet! I will say it's one hell of a looker though.:usa7uh:

it defiently does not have the comfort or say the speed of the s65 or the technology of them...but i feel it has something that the Germans dont have and that is passion. Not sure if that sounds right but there is something about the car that will justify the price even though there are cars that on paper are so much better. But if this was the case why would people buy the maserati?

It's sexy as hell, that's why!;) And your right it is rather exclusive, but I'm passionate about German cars and that's about it. But I can certainly see the buety in all cars.

It is an interesting topic .....what do we mean by "passion" -- drama?, style? .....I'm not sure I would say the CL lacks passion in its design ....but it doesn't have the same kind of sexiness.

I think the Italian cars look more feminine than German ones ...maybe that's why we like Italian cars: because they subtly seduce us with their feminine charm -- I don't know ....I'm just thinking as I type. :usa7uh:

I think it is much more likely to be in the CL price range Artist.

Actually Rob and Deutsch, the GranTurismo is competing in the 6er's turf. Maserati gives the impression that it is an exclusive, expensive brand... But in reality, they are competing directly head on with more "common" brands like BMW, Mercedes and Audi... It was stated somewhere by Maser's CEO that Maserati wanted to get rid of people's perception of it being expensive, because it was hurting sales. That's a little ridiculous of course... Who doesn't want a brand to be revered? Nevertheless, my point is that Maserati isn't the high-flying RR/Bentley competitor you make them out to be.

You've never seen this? :D

I'd define passion as being something that looks handmade, something forged out of a drawing pen rather than from a computer graphics programme.

You're right, Italian cars are really feminine... We exclude the Veyron here, of course. ;)

Yeah I think those are valid points about who Maser is competing with. The new GranT will compete with the SL, 6-Series and XK more than the CL which is really more of 2-door luxury cruiser in non-AMG form. The Bentley Continental and CL are the coupes of that upper segment.

Well Ok ..thanks for that James. I apologize to The Artist, he was correct.:usa7uh:

Still, the Quattroporte is a similar price to the S500 -- I guess then this new Maser is not a two-door Q-porte then :t-hands:

Hmm, I'm not sure I get what you mean here... Care to elaborate? :t-cheers:

The 1990s pre-VAG Bugattis were Italian ...but the Veyron is built in Molsheim, Alsace, France :usa7uh:

Ettore Bugatti was of course Italian born ....but he moved to France and built them at Molsheim.

Ah I see... Thanks. :usa7uh:

Well I thought this new car was the production-version of the rumoured 2-door Quattroporte ....is that not the case? ...is it replacing the current Coupé?

The GranTurismo is built off the Quattroporte platform, but it will be replacing the Coupé/Gransport. :usa7uh:

BTW, it's a stupid question, but where do I find é on my keyboard? :t-banghea

Ok I started to worry. In which price range this car will be ? Cause the current one isn't that much expensive compared to its rivals.

Hey Maserati ....what do you mean "Barely known before as MJaaFY" ....you are a well known and respected member of this forum.
:t-cheers:
