The Mercedes-Benz R171 is the second generation SLK-Class launched in 2004. It is the successor to the R170. Production: 2004–2011.

I'm surprised it took this much time for this to be ready for mass production. I recall seeing a very similar technology being used at Disneyland as early as 1986.
