Hey guys,

if you would start a new 911 chapter, which model would you start with ? I know most prefer the 993, but what else can I consider from driving dynamics POV and looks ? Something I can wake up in the middle of the night to drive?

I have been looking at RWB conversions, they look really extreme and exotic but looks harsh too.

Guys in the US, if you find a great deal, please post here. I may hire someone to buy it for me. Actually many are doing that business here. My budget is around 20K as a start. What is the best I can buy for that price ?

Oh and BTW, this is the 2nd car I will get this year, I will leave the 1st as surprise.

Appreciated.

I'm on the exact same quest as you, my friend!

It should be the 930 for sure! Black... maybe a Turbo with some RUF touch!
We have one in the forum and it's my dream car... the one I'd keep till the end of my days :)

Attached a video already, check it out ;)

I love the guy that does the talking - he sounds so much like me. The cars are a bit too wide for my taste. IMO the 930 Turbo has the perfect track and looks phenomenal! Some of the 911s in the video are amazing the least... the wide ones are not my cup of tea tho - they look like insects - buggy-bugs :)

RWB is hella expensive..

You can have mine to work on just needs a paint job and its good to go:D:

I've got one :) 930's are awesome but surprisingly expensive over the long run. The reason being is that initially one buys it for a project for one reason or another and then starts the slippery slope. When the new GT3 comes out it will cost less than what I've put in this car already. A friend of mine who has a very similar 930, but white and making close to 700 hp at the rear wheels, could have bought a new Ferrari California with the money he has had to put in his car. He has been unlucky though

I've got a friend of mine who import and exports cars to the Middle East, he's got very good connection, and the best place to by cars is from California.

Ill give him a call Tomorow if your still interested.

So, you are looking for a descent 993 to restore and upgrade?

Yep. Basicly 993 since i think that is a good link between classic aircooled and modern era 911. I read it was the first 911 to get multilink rear suspension geometry.

Well I expect that, but here basically i wouldnt pick a california over a well tuned/customized 911. Btw this is true almost for any tuned car, you pay more than what you cant initially afford as a brand new sports car. I know american cars could cost me much less, but if I find a car as unique as the 911 why not ? I am open to alternatives if u got any

Yes please qoute me a price on 993 4s manual. Preferbly blue or silver and light color interior. Thanks bro, appreciated

^A 934 is my dream... may be a replica some day!

Is it that rare ? is it design? drive? Character ? that makes it your dream car?

I am still wondering which model to start with. 993 is the closest but price is not helping.

You should, in this case, start off with a late 1970's 930 Turbo. That should be the perfect base.

The 934 is really rare and prices are, well, reflecting it's rarity. The models itself is a homoligisation special, made in order for Porsche to be allowed to field the RSR's in the GT racing group 4.

Is it easy to master 930s ? Are they difficult to drive or liftoff 180s are sooo prominent ? I am no expert with 911s so I need something to help me understand their concept and master it.

BTW I found the latest EVO article & Autocar videos very helpful although steve review was a little vague and more emotional when he compared the older 911s, but he choose the 993. EVO were a bit harsh on the aircooled generations and said that 996 would drive better than 993s where the steering can't be more vague compared to older/newer models, except that the 996 was a substantially bigger.
