Would it be so much better if the the car was badged X6 4.4si xDrive ???

Just get rid of that xDrive and make that a big S. X5 and X3 never had xDrive in their name so it's unnecessary.![]()
I guess I'm in the minority here. While it's nice, I don't think this serves any real function. But oh well, people with money buy a whole bunch of other crap, this is no exception I guess.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is eagly, but rather lacks any real function (for me) to rationalize this over a normal coupe or a X5.
Again: what's the function of a roadster? Or a mid-engine exotic supercar? Absolutely no conventional function present. But they all offer joy & satisfaction. So it does X6.
So ... imagine: eg 330i (3.0L NA 215HP), 330si (3.0L NA 230HP), 330ssi (3.0L NA 272HP) ... 330tti ( 3.0L twin-turbo 300HP), 330ttsi or 330ttsii (3.0L TT 330HP) etc.
Definitely a "no go"!
330i has 272 hp, 335i has 306 hp and the engines can be updated without adding another model (eg. 335i --> 330 hp). I can't see the problem.

An Suv doesn't serves any function, yet we are many to like them. X6 is just one step further.I guess I'm in the minority here. While it's nice, I don't think this serves any real function. But oh well, people with money buy a whole bunch of other crap, this is no exception I guess.

Again: why do you guys think a car should be all about conventional function ???Again...

I guess you missed the part where I said that it lacks a function, FOR ME! I don't give a rat's ass what the rest of the world thinks. Hell, more that half the idiots in this country voted for "you know who", does that mean that it is OK? I'm an individual, I don't jump on retarded bandwagons. I don't want a F__king company telling me what I need or want, I want the things that suit me.
Anyone in the world can justify anything they ever do (wrong or right), but that doesn't necessarily means that it makes sense. Just because BMW's Head honcho and it's Marketing department can make a good case for this doesn't mean that I'll say: "I guess that makes sense, perhaps I was wrong. I guess the world really does need a cross-over vehicle with less room than a coupe but built like a sleek SUV." Sorry, that don't fly with.
How is my thinking 1-dimensional? Oh, I'm sorry that I wouldn't waste my money on something that isn't what I like.
Oh really? I guess the last time I went on a long trip with my family and friends (8 people) through the winter storm we should've taken a sedan, since an SUV obviously doesn't serve any function.
If you were able to fit 8 people into the SUV, then it is REALLY a SUV. But the X5 cannot do that. The way I see it, the X6 isn't all that different from the X5. While you get a bit less headroom, you still get more or less the same cargo space as an X5. The X5's 3rd row is only good for children anyway.
I can honestly tell you that after seeing the X6 in person yesterday that this thing is hot. Really sporty and impractical and all the better for it. For people looking for the hot truck this year this is going to be the one. The crowd reaction was tremendous.
