Land Rover has used this week’s 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show for the U.S. debut of its latest 2010 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Limited Edition SUV, which is set to go on sale at the end of the year.

Joining the rest of the 2010 Range Rover Sport family, the striking new Autobiography package is available with the common 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque supercharged and direct-injected 5.0-liter V-8, plus a range of luxury items.

All seat surfaces are upholstered in new duo-tone leather, available in three color combinations. The front and rear headrests are embossed with a unique Autobiography Sport logo while the wood door inserts also bear this exclusive insignia. The Autobiography package also includes the rear-seat entertainment system and HD radio offered in Range Rover Sport, as well as a distinctive Autobiography Sport badge on the tailgate. Electronic rear differential lock and adaptive cruise control are also part of the package.

Only 250 Autobiographies will be produced this year, all in the Santorini Black color scheme. The exterior features body-colored lower door panels, front and rear bumpers with titan accents and an extended rear roof spoiler. A custom mesh grille and side vents also enhance the Autobiography package, as does special 20 inch wheels and a distinguishing exhaust extension.

Pricing for the Autobiography model starts at $88,545 plus an $850 destination and delivery charge. Both manual and automatic versions will be offered.

We can't figure out exactly what the name Autobiography is supposed to convey, but Land Rover seems to think it's a fitting name to put on its top-of-the-line Range Rover models. Last year, they pulled the wraps off the Range Rover Autobiography at the British Motor Show, and this week at the LA Auto Show the Range Rover Sport Autobiography has just made its official debut.

Most of the appeal of the package is inside. All of the seating surfaces are covered in beautiful two-tone leather, and the Autobiography logo can be found in the wood door inserts and the embossed headrests. The exterior gets a few special touches as well, including body-colored lower door panels, an extended roof spoiler, and special 20-inch alloy wheels.

Just 250 examples of the Range Rover Sport Autobiography will be built, all in Santorini Black with the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 as standard. Pricing is listed as an imposing $88,545, but we can see that in its exclusive circle, enough Land Rover buyers will likely be willing to cough up a $14,000 premium to have their own Autobiography, even if it's only a leather, wheel, and trim package. Forgive me father for I think I am about to sin. You see.. I'm having these feelings. Feelings that I've never had before. They are good feelings, ..yet I have a sense of guilt for feeling this way. I'm so confused.

I mean, is it wrong of me to have this new desire for a Range Rover Sport Autobiography edition even though my head is telling me to stick with the X5M ? Sometimes I worry I can't help myself. I'm so confused. Please help me father...

Disclaimer: no offence to those of the Christian faith, merely a light-hearted joke. :)

It is OK my child. For everyone has sinned. These feelings of yours are perfectly natural. The Car God made beauty, and RR-Sport AE is a thing of beauty. So, you are perfectly fine as long as you stick to things of beauty. The Car God forgives you. :D

Can we now officially give this vehicle the title of: India's Finest!

:D

This reminds me a lot of the old X5 4.8iS ... not over the top 'look at me' styling like the current X5M, but rather a little more low-key approach with many small yet purposeful enhancements to communicate the aggressive nature of the vehicle. Wolf in sheep clothing with a sports-jacket over the top!

This is it......

No germancar fan boy can deny this is the KING of the suv....

I'm sorry but the G wagon is definitely the king..and the AMG one is to die for.:D

Love this RR but the interior combo looks like an aftermarket, diff combo for me please.

I never understand any Range Rover or Aston Martin hype. I really don't.

The G-Wagon has an iconic exterior, but there's nothing stopping MB from doing a full redesign on the inside. In 2009, IMO, the interior is garbage.

The G does not need to look modern! That's the point of this car. It's iconic. Any effort to make it modern, is an effort to change its character.

:t-cheers:
