LS Lexus LS 460/LS 460h

The headlights of the new LS. OMG :eek2: :t-hair: :eek2: :t-hair: :eek2: Imagine if the rest of the car is/looks that high tech.

Wow! Kinda reminds me of those Japanese cartoons with high-resolution graphics... In a good way.

Wow i really hope Lexus can pull off a new and idividuall type of design this time.. so far it looks good..

I'm thinking those lights must just be for the car being shown at the motorshow. I don't see Lexus pushing them through to production. It seems too unreal. But who knows what this company is capable of. They have one objective in life...to stick it to the Germans.

And here we have the new LS Lexus in concept trim. I expect the production version will merely have conventional headlights and grill akin to the rest of the range.

It's nice, a huge improvment over the current car. But I'm not sure how it stacks up next to the S in terms of looks. Maybe with some better pictures, different colours etc. it will look great.

Looking forward to the interior reveal.

The only picture that the LS may look better in is that 3/4 rear veiw because that rear wheel arch on the S is just too big from that angle. Other than that the S still looks better. The new LS is nothing more than a super sized IS250/350 with the same slab sided doors and characterless proportions/detailing.

Damn doesent this lexus look alot like the 7er overall in shape.. its really sad that they have to copy each time..
But still they are gettin better..

by overall shape you mean it looks like a car? i really don't see the resemblence. :t-hands:

Check it out the whole side is very similar to me..

I think the S-class is much prettier and endlessly more elegant. Well at least in the pictures.

Your right Merc1, the Lexus does come across as a blown up IS, and is somwhat slab sided. The S-class I believe will prove to be the more interesting and appealing design in the long run. While Lexus has made a big leap when it comes to proportions of the vehicle, when it comes to the more subtle design elements (Body contours, mouldings, creases, shutlines...all the little details) they still seem to be a generation or more behind.

Still I can't wait to see these two vehicles side by side in the metal.

thanks to this pic...

I like the car, at least from this angle.

As for the comparo in design to the new S and 7, there is no comparo, this car actually has it's own original styling. It's absolutely absurd to start comparing one cars design to another, it's all be done before so there's no doubt that you'll find similiarities in different design elements. (y)

Look at the rear part (from C-pilar on) of the cars!!! Ain't them similar? :t-crazy2:

They're getting design elements from many German cars... but I think they did a rather good job with the cohesiveness of the LS.

I don't think that calling it copying is right. Then again, there are certainly similarities though. For the most part, Lexus is somehow developing its own design language, so the slab-sidedness is, in a way, intentional I believe. Just look at the new GS and IS.

Then again, I wish they had gone a bit further with the design. It does look a bit like a giant IS. The proportions are ok, but various details and forms leave me a little uninspired, whereas on a smaller car like the IS, everything looks attractive. A larger car for a different audience needs different treatment, whether you're looking to shake the 'old person's car' image or not.

look at the line going from the five rear wheel well to the tail light and the line going from the 5 front wheel well going to the head light. I think thats a huge copy. Thats pretty blatant if you ask me.

What, you mean the panel line in between the bumpers and the metal three quarter panels?

If so, that's not copying, that's just standard engineering practice. It's similar on all cars, and it's rather a banal aspect to be calling copycat on.
