Yes, I believe electromagnetic field. Pretty much uses the same concept as those magnetically levitating trains in Germany (Maglev).

Very cool! Too bad it doesn't work everywhere and won't be something the average consumer will be able to buy. One day we'll have real hoverboards, just not today.
