Lexus Commercial: GAP

Oh nooo, LEDs. I can see people here with their older generation IS putting aftermarket LEDs on their headlights :eusa_doh:.

Classic desperate attempt style Video (see Audi, who own the "cheap-shot to the competition" style video's).

Not bad though, to try and get their point across. And the car actually looks pretty good with the F.L stuff, and in that blue color.

I'm getting sick of everyone on the LED bandwagon though. I'm afraid that it'll get old and tired fast.

In this regard, also see Audi, who were the OG's of this trend, sucks for them that their cool little touch is getting whored to death.

If you didn't know Toyota is the first one to use LED's on their cars. So if anything, they set the trend, not Audi. Take a look at the Toyota Highlander, U.S. back about 6 years ago. To my knowledge they used LED's first.

And is it wrong for Lexus to point out the faults in other car companies, when other car companies do the same to Lexus? I say it's an open field, play ball! :eusa_clap

I don't think that's true. The W220 S-Class used LED's first, to my knowledge, since the late 90's in Europe, and 99/00 in the U.S.

Audi was the first one to really bring them into Pop Culture though, and use them as gimmick designs.

Really...now we're hating on car commercials? Nothing in this was bad, or thread worthy.

Was there any real purpose in creating this thread ?

Welcome to another (pointless) debate against Lexus? Isn't that 'ad-war' old & developed by Germans automakers themselves?

Seriously, Imho, a Jdm fan should rather bang his head into a wall with nails sticking out to death, instead of joining this forum! :D

It's not Audi-bad, not at all.

I think it's a shame we don't get the IS350 here.

The new facelifted IS-range looks fantastic. The IS350 was recently introduced into the Australian market and have been making headlines around the motoring community for it's keen pricing - undercutting it's 335i rival by almost AUD$30k. Ultimately it might not be as good as the Germans, but as a value proposition, it's pretty hard to beat.

Here, the Lexuses are priced evenly with the Germans. Problem with Lexus is the packaging of equipment. Say, for instance, that you want your car to have a sunroof. How much will that cost? €1000 for the sunroof and €10,000 for the Executive package that allows you to order the bl**dy sunroof...

Yeah, I find no fault with the Commercial, all in all.

I mean, a TRUE prestigious brand shouldn't have to use competitors cars to get the point across, UNLESS those competitors cars are obviously viewed as supreme to the advertised car (I don't think Mercedes has ever had a commercial with a competitors car.... However, maybe I'm wrong).

Audi is the true classless-act in this regard.

Using E46 3-Series', W203 C-Classes, W220 S-Classes, etc. long after they're off the market, against (in frame) with brand new Audi offerings, is just cheap, and desperate.

That's a pretty decent video to be honest. Nevertheless it fails at making me want the IS over the rivals.
