Hamilton to sign $20m Reebok deal​

Lewis Hamilton is to sign a lucrative personal sponsorship deal with Reebok.

The multi-million dollar deal, which is yet to be finalised or confirmed, is believed to be similar to the British sportswear brand's approximately $20m apiece 'global brand ambassador' agreements with footballers Thierry Henry and Andrei Shevchenko and boxer Amir Khan.


The marketing publication Brand Republic claims that McLaren, which does not usually allow its drivers to seek personal sponsors, has made an exception in this case because 23-year-old Hamilton is 'one of sport's most marketable stars'.

No doubt. He probably hasn't realized the immense earning potential he has if he wins this year. On endorsements deals Hamilton can easily reach the levels of Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan who both cash in sick sums of money outside sports.

As always, money talks, plus Ron will do whatever to please Lewis. Back in 1998 or 1999, one of the reasons why Michael Schumacher didn't join Mclaren was because Ron won't allow him to have personal sponsers, Will Weber wasn't happy about this and the deal broke down.

Hamilton's father wouldn't be too happy if Lewis would be prohibited to sign sponsor deals, especially since Lewis has the potential of earning money of endorsement deals which would easily surpass his Mclaren salary.
