Post your thoughts and opinions on the LCI BMW 7-Series design changes.
What is the most striking change you like, or dislike and does the design stand out and pass as a complete coherent package? This thread is about personal opinions so try not to give a negative rating.

I like the face-lift, but I do flip-flop on the front grille. Initially, I was reluctant about it, then there were those RL pics of it in a shade of bordeaux that really made sense to me. It looked similar to the VFL Concept, one of my favorite concept cars of the last 10 or so years. So I think this is a car that needs to be seen in person to really form an informed opinion. Perhaps a darker color, like that bordeaux red, really makes the details pop. I do like the front bumper of both the non M-sport pack and the M-sport pack. And having that front gives a unified front, both figuretively and literally, for BMW's upper-end sub-group. Regarding the interior, I like it and the changes were as expected. I am curious to see if they have expanded the interior leather and trim choices, particularly through the Individual program.

So I can't say I love it, but if there was an option for liking it, I'd opt for that.

Like it, don’t love it.

I think all the styling changes are net positive but I would’ve gone with a smaller grille. The interior is beautifully crafted but not looking as fresh as some of the competiton.

Dislike: The height of the grill. 25-30mm shaved-off of grills' top could have been beneficial.

Otherwise: An LCI in which I can find little if anything to criticize.

This is an incomplete poll with survey questions which don't completely cover how people may react to the 7er LCI. For me it's like this:

I don't love it and think it's beautiful, nor do I hate it and think it's guady or ugly. Also, I'm not ambivalent about it either. There are aspects which I really like and a few - that controversial grill in particular - which I need to see in the flesh to decide further. One thing to me is clear - the 7er LCI makes a far bolder statement than the car it replaces (and perhaps that's what this class requires) and also aligns more closely with the design language of the other top-end model in the range - the X7.

I don't love it, don't hate it either. It's not my style. I could live with the front if I had to. The rear? Hmm, rearbumper looks kind of strange to me. 3D rearlights are very interesting in a positive sense. I'm not sure if over the years the LCI will be remembered as a congruent/coherent model. Now the front and rear are so completely different compared to it's unchanged profile.
The dealbraker for me is not so much the exterior as the interior. Especially the mounted navigation display. Pity BMW didn't make any efforts to integrate the screen into the dashboard.

Have to see it in person. So far I cannot decide, I'm not fan of the front grill. It's too big. Otherwise it's a nice design. But I have a feeling that maybe they missed a bit to be a true winner, design wise. Still, I will give final judgement when I see it in person.

@GTA45E, a like for the last line in your OP! Very nice!

As for the car.... it's nice, and will look even better in real life.....
......BUT it's still a G11. I can't get overly exited about a facelift. Hope the next 7er finally is a homerun in all aspects from the get go, and it looks like they're on the right way when looking at the general bold direction of this facelift.

I do have to say the the front bumper of the non M sport is utterly amazing. Brilliant doesn't even cover it properly.

Its ass
Interior is straight ass sat in the 7something e , hybrid today.
And they barely touched the interior as if it was perfect to start with.
Grill is comical, it’s embarrassing.
Rear is one of the best sedan rears on sale.

All in all a failure of a car. Minus some sweet details.

I don't love it, I don't hate it either. The photo's in darker colours and from lower angles make it look really good, but in most shots the grille is just too much... I don't like the way they styled the grille, or how it's integrated into the design, and I think it's too big. I might change my mind when I see it in person.

Its the same with me, not in love with the LCI but I do like it and think it does make THE 7 definitely more grander and a more majestic car than the Pre LCI model. The final decider will be when I see the grill and front lights in real life, hoping it still look as good as the pics

Prefacelift looks a lot better on the streets, photos doesn't make a justice. I'll wait untill I see it IRL. Haven't even seen the 8-series yet although my dealer have stunning blue color for sale.

Thanks, much appreciated!
I posted that to avoid a rock throwing contest.
Most everyone made good rather entertaining posts here. There are some details I will have to see in person before I draw conclusions. From the photos I have some mixed feeling about it, that grill and hood line on profile...

Homerun. And i am also speaking about the grill. Unlike Bangle years when you kind of understood where they wanted to go with some brave design cues but poor execution was making you scratch your head about wtf they were smoking to green light some final details. I beleive here the execution is so polished and cohesive that i can only give them the thumb up.

Finally a 7er that stirs some controversy & publicity again ... after the original E65 7er.

All the other 7er versions in between were 50 shades of vanilla, not worthy of a flagship IMHO! (n) This one is bold again. A statement. In-your-face expressive. I have very high hopes for the next gen 7er! :hungry:

Also mind BMW 7er is not alone @ the top of the BMW portfolio anymore. Now you can also get a luxury full-size BMW SAV, soon also in 4-seater executive edition (X7); a GT coupe, cabrio and 4dr coupe (8er, M8), and a futuristic GT coupe or roadster PHEV i8. Count in the upcoming BEV hi-tech luxury SACrossover iNext too. (y)
