Latest news: McLaren supercar spied

This car will not be on the same level, and from what I've read Cosworth will be supplying the power.

will bmw fans love this as much as the F1 when cosworth delivers the power instead of bmw:D

Not at all. You know their double standards. :D;)
I can already imagine the comments now...
"...but it looks like a doorstop"
"why doesn't have at least 100hp/L?"
"the steering wheel is too thin"

Oh really? Then there is a chance that the engine will derive from the F1 engine Coworth will be supplying to teams next year.

No the engine will probably be a derivative of AMGs 6.3. An F1 is too costly.

I agree, it will probably be be a version of the AMG 6.3L engine.

I hope McLaren does a good job on the rest of the car. The SLR, though competent, was too one dimensional in its talent (straight line speed). It has to be pretty special to beat the forthcoming Ferrari F450.

I do look forward to this car. The biggest mistake McLaren can make with this car is to make it look and feel like an upsized Lotus Evora. It must look and feel special. The interior must be bespoke and high quality to distinguish it from other independent offerings (no disrespect to the likes of Noble, Koenigsegg, et al).

I guess that is why many of us already like SLS or a Zonda? Anyway juvenile stuff aside, I wonder how this will compare with SLS especially if it has an AMG engine? And no it won't have F1 engine. F1 engine for the street is a myth, they have to rev to 15000+ rpm to make meaningful power, idle at 6000+ rpm, does not have enough torque for anything more than 900kgs, need complete overhaul every thousand miles or so, not to mention drinks fuel and oil like a fish drinks water.

Mclaren and Mercedes ended their partnership outside F1 and I would assume that Mclaren wants full credit for this car and will develop it without Mercedes.

It was my understanding that this car was actually in development under the partnership with MB and that it was to have a twin sold under the silver star to spread economies of scale. Obviously there won't be a twin from MB for this car and more than likely it will have an AMG engine that was probably contracted from MB when the two were "in bed". An F1 engine wouldn't be very reliable in the real world if installed in a road car.
