Sportauto drove Z4 Sdrive35 around Hockenheim in 1.16,6 min, slightly quicker than Z4M Roadster.

It is quick, but is it as fun to drive as the Z4M?

I very much doubt so. The edge in performance around the circuit was well expected, especially when the Z4-M has a very old engine that's weak by today's standards.

M3 E46 engine is better for the track than the 335i engine. It has more to do with the suspension. The suspension in previous Z4 had its flaws and recieved many complaints in this area. New Z4 has a much better and modern suspension. But I doubt the new Z4 is fun as previous Z4M to toss around a track.
