It’s a good time to be in the business of selling exotic cars. It seems every brand with a six-figure lineup is posting record sales, including Lamborghini, which today announced it had sold 2,406 cars over the past 12 months – an increase of 15% over its 2006 result. North America once again accounted for the most sales, so much so that Lamborghini will soon establish a new sales branch in the U.S.

Part of the reason for the strong growth is the result of an increase in Lamborghini’s dealer network, especially in new markets such as Russia and China, explained its Chief Stephan Winkelmann. In the last two years alone, the number of dealers worldwide has leapt from 65 to 107 and this trend is set to continue.
Lamborghini’s other strength is its expanding product portfolio. The current lineup is comprised of five models: the V12 Murciélago LP640 Coupe; the Murciélago LP640 Roadster; the V10 Gallardo Coupe; the convertible Gallardo Spyder; and the lightweight Gallardo Superleggera. Of course, there was also the Reventon but the limited run of 20 cars was sold it even before production began.
Next year is set to be even better as officials are expecting a further 5% increase in sales, and there are plans for several new developments including a co-branding deal with fashion house Versace as well as possible tours and driving academies for loyal customers.

Well duh. Off course the sales will sky rocket if you increase the production and make Lambo less rare.

Amazing feat. Especially for a company which in 2001 was selling just 80 cars per year.

It seems VAG is trying to exploit it's brands as much as possible!

First Bentley and now Lamborghini, I wonder how long it will be till be see one on every street corner in rich areas, like it is the case with Bentley now!

Yupp, VAG is cashing in big time on their brands. Now when they have saved Bentley and Lamborghini I think it's time to cap the production.
