Lamborghini has partnered with the UK’s BERU f1 systems to supply digital tire pressure monitoring systems for its Gallardo and Murcielago supercars. The safety feature is based on the technology of BERU’s Tire Safety System (TSS), which is already in use on certain Audi, BMW and Porsche models.

The cars are now fully compliant with the U.S.’ TREAD act, which stipulates all passenger vehicles and light trucks sold in the U.S. must be fitted with a tire pressure monitoring system.
Ordinary monitoring systems can’t cope with the excessive speeds and high loads borne by tires equipped on supercars. BERU’s system features wheel electronics, an ECU, two antennae and four LF satellite triggers. The wheel electronics contain a battery, absolute pressure sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, micro controller and radio transmitter/receiver located in a robust wheel housing.
