That's my first thought when I read about these things. 16 year old's boys just don't have the experience and intelligence to handle cars of this calibre, especially without adult supervision. Heck, a 16 year old boy can't even control his erection, let alone a car.
Call it jealously, or whatever you will, but as far as I'm concerned, teenage boys will be teenage boys. Heck, many of us were teenage boys here once, and know what we would have done if we were given such cars. As far as I'm concerned, it's irresponsible parents who simply think they know their kids, and want to prove to their kids their love for them through money. Really they're the ones doing themselves and their kids a disservice, if their kids get injured or their kids injure someone else.
Plus, since when did the importance of showing your kids the value of money go by? If you really wanted to invest in your child, invest in a college/university fund, or even send them on a trip around the world to experience other cultures. That would be an investment that would last them a lifetime.
Oh well, I guess peoples values are different.

Legal age to drive is 18 here, and even then, with such a car...I would be lucky to be alive, looking back at the crazy sh!t I did 10 years ago. In that aspect, I've really grown up now.
The kid is a spoiled brat most probably, but all the best to him and his car. I hope not to read about in again soon. It would be either reading the kid being dead with all his friends after a night going out, or him not liking the car and getting some other expensive car.... I don't know what would be worse

Real nice kid I gotta say. I was expecting a spoilt brat or something...but the first thing he does when he realises its his car is to hug his parents. That's pretty impressive for a 16 year old who just got presented with his dream car. Heck, if I were in his situation and my parents bought me an M5, the first thing I'd do is just walk around the car and drool..so this kid ain't spoilt.
Not saying I support giving a 16 yr old such a powerful car. My girlfriend got a black 2006 Mustang GT for her 16th, though I met her after she got her car. Ironic though, coz my parents never bought me a car.. I got a hand-me-down 1992 Corolla. So it's just a difference of culture and lifestyle I guess.
Maybe I'll be surprised with a brand new car for my 50th Birthday or something...

I had an uneasy feeling all alongt his video. I honestly hope we do not get to see this video as the eery prologue of a tragedy, like a couple of years back when five teenagers wrapped themselves around a tree in a BMW M5.
His parents seem like great people who have had some success, but my kid would be lucky to get a Smart diesel for his/her 16th. How about suprising that kid with a part time job at whatever the parents' business is, where he can gradually save up to finance or lease the fanciest car his parents can approve for him?
