Chonkoa? :D

Now stop right there young man.
How I spend my money, why I spend my money and what I spend my money on is none of your bloody business.
Do you get that, it is none of your bloody business.
You don't go about insulting people with impunity.

^Exactly!

Otherwise people can start to question weather it's questionable to wear dyed cloths. Why dye hair, why wear make-up, why use expensive perfumes, why buying furniture beyond IKEA, why spending money in boutiques & small stores instead in supermarkets. Why driving cars beyond Toyota etc.

IMO all the debate about irrationality is completely irrational. :D

Betty - have you ever driven X5M / X6M & compared them to the stock X5 / X6? Or you just buy & believe the media reports? And here we are again then - about believing in other's opinion & "evaluations".

What it all comes down to is that the M SUV:s main M feature is the badge so that has to be important. That letter sells cars.

I'm not saying that people who purchases these SUV:s are any more insane than the person buying an M3, it is just that, in my view, the M3 represents top notch performance, built from a suitable (well, sort of) base.

The M SUV:s are given the same treatment but as the base is utterly unsuitable for achieving what must be the goal in adding these go-fast features, the effort must be regarded as in vain. This, of course, under the assumption that the feautres were not just put there to add image. The the result is irrelevant. The pieces are there, but no one cares if they make the car behave like something that should be let near a track...

Putting make-up on the pig will make it pretty but still a pig :D

On the other hand, who am I to rant on about how unsuitalbe and non M the M SUV:s are, I mean, there are those that actually race with far more unsuitable vehicles:

:D
Cool cars in any way, not that "M" but cool nontheless.

If you don't want people to comment on your financial decisions then don't post them on a public forum.

^

Again - have you already driven X5M / X6M?

No, but since when is that a requirement to have an opinion about something on here? :D

I don't need to drive one to know whether I think it should exist or not. I've never driven an E30 M3, but I can have a pretty good guess what it would be like.

Brilliant kid, just brilliant.
Like I said earlier, you are in no position to question my decision here. I don't question your purchasing decision so just zip it kid.

It is a public forum that I decided to be part of by choice, but that doesn't mean that I have to accept your rudeness, such insolence.
You have successfully shown how much of a rude person you are in this forum.
Keep it up.

That pretty much sums it.
I can tell how a food taste by reading reviews or by inference.

Erm, well, yes I am. This is a public forum. People comment on what cars they like and what they don't like. If you're going to stick your neck out and commit yourself then be prepared for people to question that decision. It seems perfectly straight forward for most people and I'm quite perplexed that you cannot grasp this basic concept.

Yes you did, but you have to accept that it's just that. A "public" forum. That does mean people aren't always going to agree with you.

but that doesn't mean that I have to accept your rudeness, such insolence.

If in doubt just make some wild statements about my rudeness eh? :D

Chonkoa, if I've been rude to you anywhere on this thread then report me. I'm sure if you're correct the mods will back you up and uphold your complaint. Remember though, simply disagreeing with you doesn't count as being rude to you. ;)

That pretty much sums it.
I can tell how a food taste by reading reviews or by inference.

A 2.5 tonne vehicle with an automatic gearbox, 4x4, forced induction, is going to be a certain type of drive. The 90% of the reviews I've read certainly support my theory. Why do I need to get behind the wheel myself to know this for sure? Am I going to get in the drivers seat and discover it handles like a Lotus Elise? No I'm not. So, even before I get behind the wheel of the behemoth, I know my conclusion, at the very best, is going to be:

"A good drive.....for what it is".

Betty, I see you have found a new love?

I feel so empty now :(

To me, everybody else is just a username making posts. I certainly don't have any personal opinions/vendettas against anybody. How could I when I don't know the person? I've no wish to get into a battle with anybody, but I have a reputation, which Chonkoa picked up on when he'd lost all other options, and played the "rude" card. Sadly for him I haven't been rude at all.

Could we try and keep it clean? Oh, and on the topic, you know; Joy is BMW

There will be no more discussions on our financial sanity and/or situations.

I think you are missing the point. It is a forum for people to share their enthusiam for cars not a forum for you to insult people.
Do you get that point.
So I will put it bluntly because you are still failing to comprehend what I am saying: you have no rights, grounds, basis to criticise my discretionary actions.

If in doubt just make some wild statements about my rudeness eh? :D

I have no problem with disagreement in this forum and I will be quick to accept a different view point.
What I shall not accept from you is questioning of my underlying reasons for an action/inaction, kapish?

I'm still at a loss as to why that is "insulting". I wrote "Chonkoa?" as a prompt for you to explain your motivation. In other words, "Chonkoa, do you want to comment on this?" It was also a bit tongue in cheek (hence the smiley).

Anyway, your apology is accepted. You really should lighten up though. Nowhere have I insulted you.

I thought we were doing that?

Anyway, I'm happy for you to drop it now as the mods are getting tired. :D

All this talk is not even off topic in this thread, since JOY is about talking about BMW on a forum too ;)

I dont see why the BMW X5 M /X6 M are relevant to this core marketing discussion.
Job Done.
The cars although heavily maligned by the "Track driving journalists" have actually successfully integrated into their respective markets.

Sales in Russia and China have been very successful , two countries which at focus point were two main target markets for these high performance x vehicles. The cars have also performed well in typical M markets.

Enthusiasts might detest them but these cars have their market.
That will be the end, comment on X-M's in the relevant thread.

Apology accepted, case closed.

You might wanna add Middle East to the list, I heard the two Ms are doing well there

True. The same case with regular X6 ... Russia, China, ME & some EU markets are doing extremely well. Well beyond expectations.

The only market that is doing slower than expected is US market - due to high pricing of the X6 & Ms. And the lack of extremely attractive lease deals which usually lure in the customers with lesser incomes. For those cars like 5er GT / X6 / big Ms are just too expensive right now.

Which is so sad when you think about it. BMWs are probably cheaper in the U.S than anywhere in the world, and they still think it's too expensive. Poor bastards :(
