Jeremy Clarkson: "Top Gear won't be back"

I totally agree, and the worst is that ''celebrities'' like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are so intersting to people that it makes me puke. I honestly don't care what did P.Hilton eat yesterday for lunch, where did she go out, which kind of dog does she have...To hell with that.

Damn right, my friend, damn right! :usa7uh:

I kinda agree with you guys, but in someways I don't!

I totally agree 5th Gear is total crap now, it used to be like old style Top Gear was in the 90s, which started to look a bit boring compared to the new style TG, and since then they have tried to make a TG clone, but much worse, and now the programme is awful. I still watch it though because some of the road tests are pretty good, still hate tim lovejoy, and that wreck my car bit.

Now, with TG I used to really like it, couldn't wait for it to be on TV, but in the latest series, it has started to get a tad boring, I can see why the BBC would want to change it. I agree it's not all about cars, but I think now TG is more about entertainment than you actually learning anything about cars, watch 5th Gear for that. I'm ok with that, but some of the latest stunts aren't that great. I think TG is changing to get a more varied audience. Sure, anyone who's on this forum isn't going to like the features that aren't about cars, and even the parts which are about car, which aren't very informative. But the fact it, it's all for the entertainment factor! My Mum would never watch 5th Gear, far too focused for her, but she watches TG and really enjoys it. Don't know if you're getting what I mean, but basically TG pulls a much great audience than 5th Gear, because it's more for the family audience, and for people that aren't interested in car, and women!

I would honestly hate it if TG went away. But at the same time I thought it was Top Gear and not Celebrity Top Gear...TG isn't some F__king reality tv show where celebs come and drive a stupid car around a track. Just plainly retarded.

Either way, I hate FG. Tiff is obviously cool and Jason Plato is pretty good, but the rest of the gang is annoying. I mean, sure, I'd love to F__ck the sh!t out of VBH in a Lambo but I'd tell her to shut the F__k up. That show is beyond dumb and the fact that they are blatantly ripping off TG but in a bad way, just makes me not want to watch it....which I haven't done for over a year now.

This seems quite incredulous. They have a good product which is extremely popular throughout the world. Why on earth would they want to mess with success?
You answered your own question...they're messing with it because they're trying to capitalize on that success.

All good things must come to an end, I guess...

They can F right off if they start giving more focus on Jamie bloody Oliver than a Gallardo Superleggera. Top Gear has gone way too far recently, and personally I'm get bored of the same challenges ruining everyone's life.

Seriously, if I were in London at the time of that Limousine challenge, I would that set 39 feet Fiat Panda Limo on fire with both Jeremy Clarkson and Chris Moyles inside of it.

Then you have the Vauxhall Vectra VXR review. That segment was clearly staged to make Vauxhall look ridiculous for Clarkson total disliking for the Vectra.

If they start staging segments based on the reviewers biases and giving more focus on celebrities, Top Gear certainly lost a regular viewer and Fifth Gear might have won one.

Actually, I'm lying. Fifth Gear might have lost a regular viewer as well.

Fifth Gear now have some serious problems, since for whatever unknown reason, they decided to rip Top Gear stunts where a car always end up destroyed, with a segment called "Wreck my Ride" which has got to be the lamest thing on TV ever since Big Brother.

...if modified properly.

I'm sure the Channel 5 would be able to finance a proper tuning on that Golf.

That video just shows how lame Fifth Gear has got in the past few series, so much in fact, they now have to resort to destroying a brilliant car for 'entertainment'.

The other problem with Fifth Gear is the new "Cafe" studio which is just plain, utterly, utterly ridiculous. But above of all else, I cannot stand that midget wanker Tim Lovejoy. What a Fking annoying little b*st*rd!

The era of the good British TV car programme is coming to an end...Thank the Germans for Auto Motor und Sport, Abenteuer Auto and Motorvision!
Yup...I hate the new format, as well. They've given it a dodgy morning show feel that I can totally live without. :t-crazy2:

Ye, but the angry mood doesn't belong here at GCF I think. It's what makes this forum so great.

This makes me angry too, so I understand you.

yeah...I'm not angry though. Just a little annoyed. Oh well...looks like I'll be watching a lot more anime!

Less focus on cars...?

Heres what I say, F*CK CELEBRITIES!

Me too!

Screw these damn celebrities. Top Gear is about cars and fun, always was and always will. I don't mind a few celebrity appearances but this is a car show.

I don't want to see stupid morons like Britney Spears talking about how the "V8 upfront in her Carrera GT sounds..." etc.

LOL, the way i look at it top gear wont end.

JC is now very wealthy and has made a name for himself, infact he is the one that has made TG what it is today. He individually writes the script for each and every show and and he is definitely not going to allow the show to be come some celebrity crap show. Im sure that if the TG management dont listen to him he will probably just resign from the show (which will result in it losing half of its popularity) i mean, imagine TG without JC? It wont be the same.

Besides theres so many sheikh's and Trumps around which would easily be willing to fund him for an entire new show? dont you think? I personally wont be surprised if there is a fallout, though I hope that it doesnt happen, it could happen :t-banghea

Clarkson: Top Gear will go on

Last week, Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson had fans of the British TV show up in arms over the suggestion that he might leave the program and producers might increase the focus on celebrity appearances. Now, Clarkson insists the show will go on.

"Last week I said there will not be a new series of Top Gear this summer. And everyone seems to think the programme is finished or that I've left," Clarkson wrote in an article published Sunday.

"Well, sorry to disappoint you all, but it isn't and I haven't. Top Gear, providing one of us doesn't go upside down again, will be back in the autumn."

Just a week earlier, Clarkson said "we don't know when we'll be back," and denied plans for as summer special.

well that made my day, as much as they can anger me over some of the things they say, non the less i love the show and watching it always makes me laugh. lets just put it this way its not where i get my car news from but its where i get most of my car humor from.
