XJ Jaguar Launches XJ Sport

The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across four basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.

Ever fancied installing a bodykit on your stately Jaguar XJ sedan? Probably not, but in case you did Jaguar has unveiled a range of new body enhancements for its big luxury sedan at this week’s 2011 Dubai Motor Show.

The enhancements are grouped in two new packs, a basic Sport pack and high-performance Speed pack. The Sport pack is available on all current XJ models except the 510-horsepower Supersport, while the Speed pack is only available on supercharged models already fitted with the Sport pack.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s take a look at what Jaguar’s new packs have to offer.

The Sport pack comprises a number of exterior and interior design options including a full bodykit, unique 20-inch alloy wheels, red painted brake calipers, sport seats front and rear, and new trim choices.

Key features of the fully functional bodykit include a new front splitter to reduce lift, as well as a rear lip spoiler. While ensuring optimal stability at high-speed, the Sport pack also maintains the standard XJ's sleek 0.29 Cd aerodynamic figure.

In conjunction with the Sport pack, the new Speed pack raises the XJ’s electronically limited top speed of 155 mph up to 174 mph. You’ll note that this is the same top speed as some of Jaguar’s special edition XKR coupes but not quite as high as 186 mph Vmax of the potent XKR-S.

I had one of these in my rear on the freeway the other day and I had to move over :D I like the front a lot but the rear is not so good.

I don't know, I kind of prefer the normal version. The front bumper is too "aftermarket-tuned" looking for me.

I like the Camry SE inspired front bumper! :D

On a serious note, those enhancements looks very nice, but for me everything from the C-pillar onwards is just pushing it too far...Citroen-esque.

It looks more like the last generation's face-lifted model.

I really was considering getting one of these for a while, as poor Jag sales, poor reliability stigma, and unpopularity does wonders for resale value, along with manufacturer incentives.

However, when I heard that there would be a Sport Package coming out, I figured that was the final nail in the coffin. I love the elegant and respectable look of the non Sport, but for me, I'd need some of the added aggression to put a little balance in that area.

I think it definitely is something I'd want on the car, now that I see it, but they could have done a better job with it. Definitely not up to AMG or M-Pack standards.

Land Rover is on a roll and Jaguar is dying it seems. Even with the fairly new XF and the new XJ they can't turn it around. They need a true entry level car and they need it NOW. I like Jaguars, but they don't instill any trust when driving them. The XJ ungainly, borderline ugly in LWB form, only the SWB looks right. The interior is really nice, but there is something second rate about Jaguars vs the Germans. The technolgy is behind, but they still make a compelling case to some in the way the look and drive. That black pillar on the XJ has become more tolerable over time, but you simply wouldn't see any of the Germans make such a compromise.
