Italian companies Maggiora and Carrozzeria Viotti pulled the wraps off a new sports coupe named Willys Interlagos at the 2014 Bologna Auto Show today.
famed Alpine A108 sports car in Brazil under the Willys Interlagos moniker.

Between 1962 and 1966, they built 822 examples of the sports car at their Sao Paulo plant, offering the Interlagos in three body styles, berlineta, coupé, and convertible.

The 21st century Interlagos was penned by Italian designer Emanuele Bomboi with the car to be built by Carrozzeria Viotti at its Turin factory.

The Italians don't say if their new model uses a donor car as its base or (far less likely) if it was designed from scratch, though, we do get a fairly detailed spec sheet in which we see that it measures 4,433mm long, 1,940mm wide and 1,228 tall with a 2,418mm wheelbase (short than the Cayman's 2,475mm), while tipping the scales at 1,350kg (2,976 lbs).

An unidentified 3.8-liter bi-turbocharged flat-six engine (that sounds like a Porsche 911 unit) positioned at the rear, churns out 610PS (602hp) and 830Nm. It's paired to a 6-speed transmission with paddle shifters driving the rear wheels and offering a quoted 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 340km/h (212mph).

The coachbuilder says it will build a total of 110 cars starting from January 2015, with a base price of €380,000 or about $467,000 at today's rates.
