The new 159 is a good car, just not 3er good!

Although on looks terms it has the 3er licked, Alfas only exist as eye candy, if only everything else about them was better! (Excluding engines)

Everyone knows that i hate Bangle but when i saw a new 3 series next to a 159 a couple of weeks ago the 3 series was a clear winner. Period.

BTW the 159 looks big in photos but in real life it seemed smaller than E90.

I don't have to llok at the source to figure out the quote is from J. Clarkson... so I won't pay much attention to the quote nor the article.

That said, the Alfa is truly a beautiful car. There's not denying that. How nice it is compared to other cars is purely subjective.

This car is definitely good looking. I haven't seen it because we don't have them in US. But for some reason the back looks a little odd to me. It looks too similar to the Mazda 6 and the RX-8...that just my .02 though.

Honestly I love Clarkson. I know that a lot of the stuff he says is just for entertainment value and humour but for some mysterious reason he sometimes makes sense. If you look passed the smoke and mirrors you can kind of tell what he is talking about. Like in this for example he never says anything about the Alfa being better what he said was that it is about as good and more bang for the buck...simple as that. Which does make sense if you look at the pricing for this and the 3 series.

I would take the Audi A4 over any of these rivals.

As far looks is concern, the Alfa 159 really is a nice looking car.

But I prefer the more elegant and classy shape of the Audi A4. The Audi handles better than the Alfa. It also has a much better looking interior than the Alfa.

The new BMW 3-Series looks boring. Even though the BMW 3-Series is highly reguarded as the best car in its class, and that's a fact!

The current Mercedes C-Class looks too generic and it is unbelievably overpriced. And I never was fond of the C-Class. I always was fond of the good old 190E W201.

The Saab 9-3 looks really good. But it's outclassed by nearly every other rival.

The Jaguar X-Type is nothing more than a bloody overpriced Ford Mondeo!
