Interior swapping, could the next E-Class benifit from S-Class interior?

^Oh, ok, maybe I was looking at the SLK spy pics.

Actually, the new SL should be more differentiated from the SLS than the SLK was. While it does still follow the SLS motif (circular air vents, placement of screen etc) there are more details that set the SL apart.

The next SL will have trim on the passenger side which joins down into the console, which neither the SLK nor SLS have. The console is also slightly different. I can't say for sure, as we don't have official pictures, but I think that the SL will have a more unique interior than the SLK got.

Actually placement of the screen is the only thing that is different - in the SL it seems a profound half inch deeper. The rest form the vents, to the radio, to the aircon seems pretty copy paste.

It'd be boring if the S and E had the same or similar interiors, and it wouldn't benefit either car. The E needs something sharper and more "sportively stately" than the S, and the S just needs an utmost luxury feel to the nth degree.

MB is smart enough to know the S classes's interior has to be unique so people will instantly realize it is the flagship model. However I am a bit concerned about the large amounts of parts. eg the air con unit and the radio unit being shared across the entire model range.

Carbon copy, carry over - whatever is happening I don't mind it, frankly;) There will always be discerning differences among and between models from the same manufacturer. Trim and perceived quality is IMHO the 'achilles heel' here and that is what really matters.

The mere fact that few people can afford the most beautiful of all Benz'es the SLS AMG can at least buy and drive the next best thing before they die, the new SLK. Why not then!?!?!
:t-cheers:

Relax MB fans, I am sure 100 % that Mercedes does know that the S class it`s his flagship and knows how to show to us this fact. The S will look totally different from the model lineup. The next C and E will inspire some things but their interiors will be far from being an S class interior copy&paste job. It will be just like in actual case. The S has an interior, C and E different interior. Merc has formed pairs of same or at least very apropiate interiors. Something like this: slk,sl and sls will have almost the same interior, with a little bit of things that differentiate the cars. The C family with it`s coupe, break, and GLK. etc. The E family, the B class family( along with A, the next CLC,GLC or BLK) the ML and GL family and S with CL. The S shares interior only with CL( which in fact is a S coupe). So, everybody must not fear of this job at MB. MB always had ideas about design. Look at the exterior, it`s the same thing now Bmw and Audi didn`t have anymore visual ideas. Now when they prepare a new model he is inspired by some model that is already on market. They design a good model( 2007 A4) and then the hole line-up joins the same design idea. At Merc you will not see this thing, that`s for sure. Never will happen.

The vents are NOT the same as the SLS.. they look like old MB´s ..

And yes the electronic units look similar.. but thats not a design feature of the interior imo..

Nevertheless MB has today most diversity between their cars.. amongst the big 3.. and i hope and suspect they wil continue on this path:)
