INPUT PLEASE - Mercedes CLS53 Vs BMW 840i Gran Coupe

We understand that you like the car, but you haven't been getting out of it for three days! Please take a break, get out of the car for a moment to take some pictures for the public,

I remind you that we were the ones who decided you would buy that one and until now we have not enjoyed it ....;)

Thank you all! I promise to post my random ramblings, objective observances and subjective snapshots as I spend time with the car.

Speaking of which... Eeeek! The climate control is malfunctioning! 32 degrees outside and I have to have the AC on its absolute lowest setting to get cool air out of it. Anything above that and I'm getting warm air blown in my face! But hey, at least I'm getting airflow. The flow out of the passengers side vent is almost non existent. is The car is booked in to go back to the dealership on Wednesday...

Lol. It's booked for tinting and paint protection on Monday, so I'm hoping to take a lot of photos after that.

So the latest in the long list of disappointing experiences with THE 8-series...

I started getting a fill coolant message from the car. This is 6 month in, with about 7000km on the clock. Is this normal? @sako97, @martinbo, would you guys happen to know if this should be expected on the 50i engine?

The dealership pressure tested the system and said they could not find a fault, but advised I need to keep an eye on it in case there is a coolant leak.

The coolant system in M140i will be inspected next month. I had to top up coolant in February and in May this year. It's the big coolant tank that has been below minimum level.

The car was bought in July last year, 3 weeks after the X3 20i which hasn't lost a drop of coolant.

A chap at th service department said that most cars have "life time coolant" and that many customers of brand new cars never have to top up.

I've never experienced any coolant-related issues in 8 years with two, totally different cars to yours: 320d's.
IMO two issues could be: a) an actual loss of coolant which would be physically verifiable by monitoring the coolant levels or b) a faulty sensor.
Whatever it is, it's definitely not normal and should not happen. If it was me, now that the problem has been reported to the dealer, I would ignore the warning and drive normally, keeping a close eye on the water temperature. If it starts to overheat - you've got something to show the dealer and they can take the car back and give you a new one. Shit like this is unacceptable.

Please don't say that. I hope this is not a sign of th...
I hope not, but the N63 has been plagued with issues; one of the biggest reasons I’m not getting into an M550i as badly as I want one.

let’s hope BMW is able to get your baby back to the glory it truly deserves

Bar some M engines, BMW never managed to produce a V8 deserving the top spot in the class. It started bad from the very beginning in 1992 (extreme wear of the cylinders due to issues with some type of gasoline), the diesel V8 was a complete disaster also.
