A couple of months ago I accidentally put petrol in the tank of my dad's brand new Volvo diesel and caused quite a bit of damage. Yeah I'm an idiot...

The entire fuel system was changed and everything blown clean according to Volvo warranty, and the car should and would according to them be as new.

However, since then the fuel economy is considerably worse. So I'm wondering, is this to be expected or is there something they forgot to fix?

they probably didnt reset the engine's ECU correctly. The air and fuel mixture is running too rich. When you start the engine, does the exhaust gas smell of diesel?

The current generation engine ECU's can automatically adjust the fuel/air mixture ratio. Maybe something is wrong...........

Or, not everything was new, no matter what the papers say. Do you trust that Volvo dealership 100%?

What I meant was that it was done according to Volvo protocol in order not to void the 3 year warranty.

Insurance took most of the hit.
