The chief executive of AUDI, Stadler, speaks about the next goals of the Ingolstaedter Autobauers



Mr. Stadler, Audi drives also 2007 to new paragraph records. Do you possibly create it to crack in finalkept in track still the a million-mark?

Only once it concerns however that we develop ourselves further qualitatively - that still more customer is inspired by our cars that we have it emotional with the mark AUDI. When do you reach ten per cent of yield on turnover?
After 2010.

Where do you see the largest Potenziale at the cost expense?
We started our modular technique component system now with the new AUDI A4. That is a substantial cornerstone for future productivity progress over all our model rows.

How long do you need, until this component system is completely available for economical self-service for all future models?
That is a current process, but in two, three years the component system in full bloom should. Then we can obtain better scale effects by many higher numbers of items for example with the partial purchase.

What brings finally for the entire business?
We expect thereby annual productivity increases of at least six per cent. The fact that we think ourselves capable of occupies also our decision to manufacture the future SUV model AUDI Q5 with our coworkers in Ingolstadt in one of our parent plants.

Are Toyota and Lexus still the yardstick for you, which concerns the effectiveness of production?
We compare ourselves within each range with the best ones - during the product development, in the body or tool construction. In some ranges we are at Toyota at least to, if not a small piece better. On other fields we have still Potenziale - applies also to the net yield.

In which sales markets do you see the largest Potenziale?
At present surely in China. The market grows still rapidly, and we want to defend our guidance in the Premiumbereich there, which succeeds to us very well. In addition come Eastern Europe, in addition, South Korea or Australia. And on the US market we grow also - in smaller steps.

2007 wants to sell you in China 100000 cars. And in five years?
Our long-term goal in China are 200,000 units. When will so far be, I cannot say today yet, that would be too speculative. That still depends apart from market growth on other factors.

Until 2015 can reach AUDI this goal, or?
Yes, that should be possible.

With the result in the USA you cannot be content however yet. Its competitor BMW sells so many cars to there well two and a half time.
The sales figure alone does not make, it lucky must also money make. In the USA is the competition at the most intensive, with the current dollar rates is extreme the entire business under pressure. Therefore our foreign exchange of qualitative growth, without bought market shares disbursed itself,: In the first ten months of this yearly we had a paragraph plus of ten per cent.

We want to increase the number of exclusive AUDI dealers of 90 on up to 150. Each year up to 15 dealers more - in such a way we introduce ourselves. Until 2015 we want to grow more in the USA toward 200000 cars - on a long-term basis naturally still.

With VOLKSWAGEN the decision moves closer for the building of a production work in the USA. Wouldn't it be meaningful to build there also directly AUDI models?
Yes, if chances open themselves there, we would seize together with the colleagues of VOLKSWAGEN - we want to invest the money not twice, but look for for both partners a profit situation. That presupposes naturally models, which can be sold in the USA with appropriate numbers of items, and which must be economical whole ones.

Apropos: They invest approximately ten billion euro in the next five years into the vehicle development? Which models are new in the program?
That begins with the AUDI A3 Cabrio and continues to go with the new SUV Q5. Then we have further above or other beautiful idea. Briefly: We have still some fantasy.

With Mercedes there is a r-class with Van characteristics, with BMW soon a similar model. With AUDI there was in addition times the study Roadjet.
That was a similar concept, but I see cars, which must be explained our customers only, critical. We do not intend in this form therefore - there there are many other attractive ideas, to which AUDI can dedicate itself. With those then our mark values - sportily, progressively, high-quality - become effective better.

From the SUV Q7 similar to the BMW X6 would a Coupé version offer itself?
The Q7 is nevertheless already almost from the Design the Coupé in the SUV range.

Will it from the new AUDI A4 only from the predecessor admitted body versions - sedan, combination, Cabrio - to give? Or also new?
Apart from the classical versions we have still more ideas. About it I would not like to talk now yet. Also the AUDI A5 has still Potenzial.

Do you plan this variety also for the AUDI small car A1, whose production at the end of begins 2009? For example sport-bake as with the A3?
Let us first times the sporty Dreituerer on the way bring. There we planned with the new AUDI work in Brussels for the beginning a yearly volume from 80000 to 100,000 units.

Do you bring the small A1 also on the US market?
If the dollar rate remains so unfavorable, this would be justifiable for no model of this series.

Do you write black numbers on the American market in the meantime?
We have to solve there still some tasks, advance however well. The amount covered structure altogether is positive. However still some loads are added by the reallocation of fixed costs with the entire US Konstrukt, on which we work entirely.

When does AUDI ignite the next fuel savings stage? BMW drives to you with the Efficient Dynamics program of it, or?
Not at all. We have our modular efficiency component system, which become appropriate technologies you with us to see shortly. Also new drive will play the SELECT system a role, which we offer for the first time now in the new AUDI A4. With this the customer between sporty or comfortable driving can select. In the future it will give here also an efficiency key, with which the entire engine and transmission price increase are then steered in such a way that the car is in a fuel savings mode on the way.

When is there the asynchronous operation mechanism with AUDI?
In the next year, gradually over our series, for example in the AUDI A4. The competitors offer so far only for hand transmission, we can also for mechanism models introduce itself.

Where does the AUDI vehicle fleet lie with the CO2-Ausstoss?
Under the values of our core competitors. Our goal: Until 2012 we want to reach a fuel saving of 20 per cent with AUDI by means of the entire vehicle fleet.

Toyota announces meanwhile a hybrid message after the other one. How does your planning for the use of hybrid models look?
The efficiency of our modern Diesels is better over a longer operating cycle up to 30 per cent than with the gasoline hybrid models. We develop both technologies and to center 2008 the cleanest Diesel of the world on the market will bring. Thus we continue to develop our Diesel authority!

Rupert Stadler was born 1963 in Titting (Bavaria). It studied Augsburg marketing and management at the professional school. The diploma operation manager began its career at Philips. 1990 it changed as CONTROLLER to AUDI, 1994 became it a commercial managing director the Volkswagen/AUDI España SA, starting from 1997 led it the generalsekretariat with the chairman of the board of the Volkswagen company.



In January 2002 the operation manager transferred besides the line of the company product planning. On 1 January 2003 Stadler occurred the AUDI executive committee and took over the financial department. On 1 January 2007 he became chief executive the AUDI AG.
