More woes for Alonso...

Alonso receives qualifying penalties
04 August 2006

Hungarian Grand Prix stewards have penalised world champion Fernando Alonso for an incident involving Red Bull’s Robert Doornbos during Friday practice at the Hungaroring.

Alonso gesticulated at Doornbos, whom he felt had held him up, and then appeared to deliberately weave and slow his Renault in front of the Dutchman’s car during the afternoon’s session.

Stewards Tony Scott Andrews, Antonio Vasconcelos Tavares and Lajos Herczeg decided that Alonso’s actions were “unnecessary, unacceptable and dangerous”, and awarded him a one second time penalty to be applied to his fastest lap time in each of the qualifying sessions, Q1, Q2 and Q3.

Additionally, Alonso received a similar penalty for overtaking another car after the session had finished, under waved yellow flags.

He will thus get an aggregated cumulative penalty of two seconds in Q1, Q2 and Q3, effectively damning his chances on a circuit on which overtaking is virtually impossible.

he's getting very nervous and starting to make mistakes. That's the difference between schumie and alonso: experience.

It's hard to overtake on this track so I actually exclude the Shoemaker from winning this. I hope and think Kimi will take this. If he doesn't run into too much problems and Massa makes a few mistakes which I think he will Kimi should be able to snatch P1 and hold it.

Kimi and Mercedes don't deserve it...even with a 2 second penalty, Shucmi's still less than a second behind kimi...that means an actual time of less than 19 seconds...so is Alonso...

Of course they deserve it. Alonso and Schumi didn't follow the rules.

A win is never unfair as long as it's not based on faul play.

I wonder why Alonso has had 2 sec extra for 2 mistakes, 1 each, and why schumie gets 2 for one mistake.
Just like monaco, with schumie and fisi, why is schumacher getting more severe punishments?

Kubica outqualified Heidfeld! :usa7uh: :usa7uh:
Yeah, Kubica is a positive surprise. He has done a great job replacing Villeneuve at least this far.

It's never about the drivers...it's all about the cars...they have better cars than Mercedes...so they deserve to win...drivers are just marketing pupets...they have almost zero infulence on the outcome of the races...

Schu's being an idiot. His accident with Heidfeld was totally needless. Alonso was already out so Schu should have moved over. Why was he wheel banging with De La Rosa and Heidfeld with 3 laps to go? He's made a trifecta of errors this year (Oz, Monaco, Hungary).

If Schu "settled" for 4th, the lead is cut to single-digits. Now, it's still 11. With Renault rounding back into form, Schu is well on his way to blowing the title. If he wins, he'll need a ton of help from Massa. I'm assuming that those inters he turned into slicks on the Ferrari would have passed post-race scrutineering. . .

Alonso gift wrapped one for Schu, but he returned it to sender without opening it!

Sensational race!

Unlucky for Kimi but the race was so good and exciting all the way into the last minutes so I don't really care. Awsome for Button, Pedro and Heidfeld:usa7uh:

Epic race:t-cheers:

Kubica was disqualified for being underweight, so Massa moved up on 7th place, while Schumacher getting the 8th one. So, the gap between Schumacher and Alonso is now of 10 points.
Very interesting...
The article is here: Kubica disqualified, Schumacher scores

That is rather absurd, but Schu was formally classified in 9th when I saw the end of the race. It's small consolation. He could have taken at least 5 pts. out if he came in for dry tyres with Heidfeld. Massa had pretty fair pace on dries.

I think it was a great drive by Schu 95% of the race. The only other driver who could attempt such a thing and dry on inters on a dry track is Senna.
