HTC EVO 4G! (iPhone Who?)

^well are they as easy to use a iphone OS?
Does it flow like the Iphone OS does?
I dont think so.. but i could be wrong..havent tried this new HTC..
But there is a new Iphone on 6th june..lets see what they do..
Afterall they kind of created this segment;)

The iPhone OS does not flow. I hate how I'll be in mail and I want to check an email site, click home button, load up Safari. Now i want to return to the mail app, click home button, back to mail... For lack of a better word, the navigation between apps blows on the iPhone and I can't wait to get rid of it. What is the point of having a touch back button in all the apps, then having a physical button to really get anywhere outside of that app, it really grinds my gears,

iPhone gets multitasking in OS4.

But to the topic on hand, the EVO sounds like every internerdsie's wet dream, but it's come to point of overkill for me. 720p recording on an 8mp camera? With such a tiny sensor, it's utterly worthless. Nothing but a headline-grabbing figure with little substance to back it up. Nor do I want to bother with HD video on such a tiny screen. Sure, it's bigger than rival smartphones, but at the end of the day, it's still only 4-inches. And the much-lauded Flash 10.1 on a mobile device? No thank you.

The only feature that are of any interest to me is the WiFi hotspot. It would be great if Apple introduced this into their OS.

Good job with iPhone 4, but the Sprint HTC EVO 4G is staying

Jason posted his WWDC iPhone 4 checklist today and now that we know all about the iPhone 4 I would have to say this checklist shows exactly why I am planning to skip this version of the iPhone and stick with my new Sprint HTC EVO 4G device. The HTC EVO 4G has everything on Jason’s list and more already up and running. It looks like the pace of Google has brought Android into the lead with Apple for innovation and excitement in the mobile space.

Looking at Jason’s list I would have to say that the most appealing features in the HTC EVO 4G over the iPhone 4 are the no limit multi-tasking, OTA updates, free navigation, Google Voice support, and WiFi mobile hotspot functionality. I would also add that Google leads the iPhone OS in the notifications system, multiple carrier support, customizable home screens, and removable battery. I do think Apple has a great OS though and think the long reported battery life, incredible display technology, better capacitive QWERTY keyboard performance, and better gaming support (6 axis motion looks slick) are compelling features of the new iPhone. As with any mobile phone, it is a personal preference that each of us has to make since one device doesn’t fit everyone’s needs and desires. I plan to stick with the HTC EVO 4G and cancel my Verizon Palm Pre Plus service soon.

Apple is really pushing their iAds support and while the ads do look slick and are very appealing for sellers, I am quite leery of paying big bucks for a device and service and then having ads all over my smartphone.

I thought their Face Time app and functionality was a bit lame though with support only for iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 devices both connected over WiFi. With Fring you can call from your Android or Symbian phone to or from a regular computer running Skype and make these calls over the cellular or WiFi networks.

The iPhone will continue to do well, but to really hit it out of the ballpark I still think Apple needs to roll out the iPhone on other carriers in the US. Maybe we will see this in 2011 or 2012 when my Sprint contract with the EVO 4G runs out.

HTC EVO 4G sets new sales records for Sprint

The EVO eclipsed the sales of the Palm Pre and Samsung Instinct, Sprint's previous record holders, by a huge margin.

A Sprint press release this morning tried to quantify the amount of EVOs sold:

Friday sales of HTC EVO 4G marked the largest quantity of a single phone sold in one day ever for Sprint - the record was previously held by both Samsung InstinctTM and Palm PreTM. In addition, the total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.

So, take the two previous record holders, tally up both of their sales for their first three days. The EVO sold three times that total in just one day.

Estimates were for 50,000 to 100,000 Pres at launch so that would put EVO somewhere between 300,000 and 600,000 units.

There is no other way to slice it: The EVO is off to a very successful start, even at untraditional venues.

Along with some activation server overloads, Sprint (S) also said that it had sold out of stock at many of its 22,000 locations including RadioShack (RSH), Best Buy (BBY), and Walmart (WMT), but was replenishing supplies daily. They also seemed to indicate that they were upping their orders from HTC.

It will be interesting to see how the EVO does after Apple (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs launches the fourth generation iPhone later today at WWDC.

HTC EVO 4G sold out pretty much everywhere

It's being widely reported that the HTC EVO 4G is sold out all over the US -- at brick and mortars and online. And while we can't 100 percent that Sprint doesn't have a few hidden away in some of the less traversed pockets of this great land, the fact that they're selling out shouldn't come as a huge shocker. The phone overtook the Palm Pre to become Sprint's best-selling launch day ever, though we don't have an actual number of units moved. Be sure to let us know in comments if your local store has any left -- we'll be sure to stampede over there.

Please give us a full review HoH... I'm seriously considering upgrading my iPhone to it.

put froyo ( android 2.2 ) on my HD2, might give 2.1 with sense a try. In a month or so, I'll be able to install android as a base OS, I guess I won't be needing a new phone any time soon :D

Great Rik, sure the HD2 is value for your money especially now that it can get the droid treatment :)

Regards

it's still early, but it basically gives me a evo 4G for free ( minus camera HD and 4G )

Nonetheless, If samsung or HTC brings out a windows phone/android device with +1Ghz, +4 inch screen, super amoled and especially a slide-)out qwerty, I'll be buying it. How great touch screen is, typing never beats a slide out qwerty.

seriously, they're expecting the first dual core devices by the end of the year, this stuff is great. A company is also testing if it's already possible to basically install windows 7 on your smartphone so you have your PC with you. You come home/ to work, hdmi to the screen, keyboard via bluetooth et voila. This will be the next step.

^ Rik, FYI .. here are my current babies :D

Dual core is coming, and first LTE handset is also promised by the Q4 ... so ..

iphone 4, how's the reception on that :D, btw apple is holding a conference tomorrow about the iphone, should be interesting.

the BB looks so weird it's cool again hehe

We have a strong network, actually one of the best worldwide .. so reception issues are only visible at deep indoor areas.
