Hot! How popular is the X-Class Van from Mercedes?

The X-Class has been available in Europe since late 2017 and was successfully launched in additional core markets such as South Africa and Australia in 2018. The 6-cylinder engine, which can be ordered for the X-Class since July 2018, has delivered further sales impetus. In total, more than 14,000 units of the pickup with the star were sold in 2018.

So is over 14000 units sold worldwide a good figure for a premium Van/Truck?
i know here in south africa i have only seen a few around in cape town, wonder if its a hit or miss?
Competitors are the VW aMAROK AND Nissan Navara, i wonder how sales compare to the rivals?

Van is a terminology used in some countries when referring to a 'pick up'.

As much as I detest it, it seems to be doing reasonably well here down under now. Though they really fumbled the initial launch as only low spec small engined variants were available.

A contractor I work with from time to time bought one, as a replacement to a ~10 years old Navara. It's funny seeing him trying not to use his 'precious' Mercedes as a work horse. I give him a maximum of 2 months before his pick-up looks like a Humvee after meeting an IED.
