I'm wondering if some people really expected XM to sell 50,000 units? The XM is quite an expensive model, and the forecasts were probably at most twice the current sales volume. Did anyone think the model would sell as much as the X7? I really don't think BMW believed that. The XM is a niche model, and that's why its price is also quite high.

Some people have the perception that the XM was positioned as a rival to the G-Class, but that's not correct.

In my opinion, BMW shouldn't give up on experimenting. We shouldn't forget that Mercedes has also killed many models due to low sales figures. Why were the S-Class Coupe and Cabrio discontinued? Wasn't it because they sold poorly?

One of the biggest problems with the XM is that the body is too flat on the side. They've tried some wannabe fender flares, but they don't really do anything for the car. Give the car really wide fender flares like the Mercedes G-wagon or E70 M-Sport, and the car would have a completely different attitude. Don't forget some matching wheels that also stick out in the wheel arches (and that they have a tire profile that belongs on an SUV).

Unfortunately too good to be true…Unless they decide to shock everyone with such vehicle.
Well, BMW is known for surprising us most of the time, this even has the formality of practicality, interior space, etc., I see it as quite feasible in production, but I'll be happy if it just resembles it.

Agree, but at the same time I believe they took a huge risk with the NK design language, it was very polarizing on the concepts, yet public opinion greatly shifted when the production models were presented. I think the fact that their Steve Jobs kind of - “I dont care what people want, I know better what they need” - attitude is paying off now, it might give them some tailwind to keep this bold direction and spread it throughout the range.

Also I cant imagine a BMW AG without a 3/4 series coupe kind of vehicle, and they cant just make it totally different from NK.

It’s funny cause whenever I see Turkish car media posts on social platforms, all the comments are super negative towards NK styling. They find it extremely ugly. They also say iX3’s car of the year award must be an april fools joke. 🤣

Would be spectacular

"Doable" as a series production vehicle...with a relatively high degree of accuracy ?

It could be an absolutely epic automobile for the ages. A Typ 120/E9 "CS moment". Only even more stylistically enduring and...everfresh.

C'mon BMW-let's do this ! NUR MUT !
