Active and mechanical do not go together for a differential.

Won't this front diff work in a similar fashion to BMW's M Active Differential?
The M Active differential is with electronic activation of the clutch pack locking, not mechanical. One type of mechanical activation is when you have the split case that is activating the clutch pack after mechanical reaction of the difference in the torque, that the right and left tyres can put to the road. Another example for mechanical activation is the torsen diff (the current M135i and all old AUDIs with quattro. There is pure mechanical lock that is activated with a cable and many others, but none of them is active.

We will soon get more detail from VW on how the diff works. The press release is a bit thin on depth.

The intake design with mesh like inserts looks alot nicer than the standard GTI and I also like the wheel design, they look fantastic.

The standard wheels measure 18 inches across but there's an available 19-inch option that can be fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. With this latter configuration, the GTI Clubsport will lap the Nürburgring in a time of 7:54. That's fast, though not fast enough to crack the current record for front-wheel-drive cars of 7:49.21, set by the last GTI Clubsport S model in 2016.

There is something wrong with this Golf. Besides its expensive price I mean.

Now the EVs are coming hard to VAG, maybe they should really try harder to improve the product.

Cupra Born is right now a more interesting alternative to me. Design wise I mean.
