2 Series [Hot!] BMW 2 Series Coupe (G42)

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
Yeah, this is all getting a bit personal.. anyone want to talk about the 2-series instead? It would probably be a good idea.
Good suggestion.

i find the bonnet to long and it looks like the cabin hangs to much towards the rear end.
It's pretty obvious that it's underpinned by a G20 - albeit on a shortened wheelbase - as it looks like a much bigger car than the F22 predecessor. 50mm up in wheelbase.
G20 is big now and it feels big in its handling too. Very inert, definitively not playful. Stable as anything of course with impeccable body control but very inert over the limit even with DSC fully off. It's not a car that likes being chucked around.
I'm curious to see how much more agile the G42 feels with its 110mm shorter wheelbase.

@AdvEvo

"now look at this profile."

It's a much different look given the much shorter wheel base. I think with the shorter wheel base, that car actually looks a little tall and less sleek.

All of BMW models have gotten larger through the years. I bet if we looked at today's 3er vs an an E39, they are pretty close size wise for instance. It's a shame to me but it must be what customers desire.

i like shorter wheelbase cars more. They also feel more agile and more fun to drive on backroads.
longer wheelbase cars are more stable and gives les excitement in corners.

I thought one of these was behind me earlier this night…Turns out it was a new Honda Jazz…
In the meantime M240i

and 230i in profile.
This comparison is crystal clear.
I don't know if it's because the thunderligh is in all the photos and videos, but obviously the colors that most favor this car are the clear ones, at least I prefer them at a non-brainer level.

In that white and in that light gray, the difference is so great with the violet and black that it looks like another car, everything that makes it what it is appears, the angular lines, shapes and straighter fenders and the C pillar mainly with its "square roundness" very large and pronounced.
In white, that fall of the front bumper at a positive angle, seeing it in profile, looks very modern and together with the grill at a negative angle, they make it look very aggressive. reflecting its personality to the fullest

As I once said, here are the design keys that will be seen in the new 7 series, even more evolved but "something like that"

I was at the dealer few days ago to look at the m240i

i like the front the new lights are nice. Also the interior is very nice and the sport seats.

I certainly don’t like the rear and the side. The wheel Base is to long and the car looks stretched.

At 75k dutch prize i would look for a second hand M2 if i was in the market to spend 75k.

i can‘t talk about the weight because you all know that:)

i find the bonnet to long and it looks like the cabin hangs to much towards the rear end.

now look at this profile.

They are able to do this because they don't have to platform share with multiple 3 row SUVs, large sedans, and wagons.

I am glad they do. The money goes to toyota!

Congrats! Many safe miles and nice punch below the belt.

A neighbor a block further has an Elise as a daily, so frankly you're getting old with that fat Toyota :)

The 2 coupe bmw looks better than your second profile car that its look too tall and short
Oh damn..."bonnet" to long and the cabin hangs to much towards the rear here too ...that means this one is not a good racing car either

Lol a F1 car would suit me perfect:)

Sorry guys i won’t invest 100k euro plus in a 1700kg car. The GR86 with 1250kg front engine and rwd with LSD is perfect for my track and drift days duties.

The new BMW X1 M35i with more then 300HP will be my next heavy BMW used as a family carrier with a tow hook:)

I can’t seem to warm up to the looks of this car the more I see it …I find that it’s the least attractive car at BMW right now. Maybe when I see it in person.

No need to be sorry for that. Only for trolling this 2er non stop.

To each is own. I personally think the profile of that Toyota looks like a complete and total disaster next to the new 2er coupe.
This new 2er coupe might just have the best profile out of every BMW coupe I have ever seen. It's almost concept car perfect; long hood, cab back and long RWD wheelbase. f#cking flawless.

For me driving dynamics and short wheelbase and weight are more important. I know a GR86 is no beauty.

if i put the M2 next to the Yaris GR. I can tell you the M2 is a beauty. But when i go for a drive on a small backroad the Yaris GR is a dream car.

opinions are so difficult because people use their cars different.

i rather drive my M2 on track with 18 inch wheels not with 19 or 20 inch because they are lighter and give better feedback. It looks shitty i know.

it is all about how you use youre car.

if you like a boulevard cruise with 20 inch heavy wheels then 1700 plus kg is the least of youre problem.
