Yesterday Honda presented “Sedan” and “SUV” hybrid concepts under Honda and Acura.

They presented them on May 14th, at an event where they shared their three-year game plan to bounce back from their first-ever annual loss in their 70-year history and get back to making profits by 2029.

The Acura looks like a continuation of their current design, nothing special, the Honda though looks intriguing. A but like a more cyberpunk style Volvo ES90

Honda are in deep shit.

Yeppp.

I'm surprised they're still keeping Acura afloat.. I mean that brand has basically zero global presence.

Ever since global expansion was cancelled due to the recession in 2008, they've pulled out of China and are basically only sold in North America (with the Integra Type S being offered in Japan now). And their only models in the US are the Integra, MDX, and ADX... the volume seller RDX is discontinued with it's successor a year away(the red concept shown).

Just seems difficult to justify Acura's existence with "premium" models developed solely for the US market. At least with brands like Infiniti, which have a presence in the Middle East, there is a little bit more of a case to develop their models.

It probably doesn't cost them much to warm over a Honda and sell it for a premium as an "Acura" here in the US. That said, Acura and Infiniti are as close to irrelevant as any luxury brand can be.

As a Honda fan and JDM fan, I am sad with what's going on....
Sad that nothing is coming of what could be some intriguing EVs with the 0-series sedan and SUV.
Sad that the Accord is going away. The Accord, along with the Civic, made Honda what we know it to be.
Acura doesn't know their ass from their head. That red SUV concept is 8 years too late.
I do like the hybrid fastback that's shown in the first post, so some promise, but this kind of car should have been in the line-up for the past 15 years. And that's a major problem with Honda... they drag their feet or don't commit to what could be a promising segment because they are too timid, i.e. Element, Crosstour, CR-X. They'll introduce something for one model cycle, and then it's gone.

I can’t believe they would drop the Accord. That is nearly unthinkable. It is Honda.

I mean it's not necessarily dropping it if they're gonna call it Accord X or Accord Cross or smth....

You can call it what you want, but IMO if it's not a regular sedan, you are dropping the accord as we've come to know it. The Accord hasn't been a liftback since the 80's.

Honda are in deep shit. Could you imagine ever saying that 10 years ago?
Here in Europe we only have the prelude which stands for the typical Honda.

And even this car is a joke apart from the design.

I saw one the other day, it really looks impressive, but the drivetrain is crap.

Put The Civic type R engine with a manual and DCT in that thing, and call it a day.

One thing regarding Acura.

On the 24h Nürburgring about 350k fans were there, out of 350k less than 1k probably know this company, Honda always sold cars like the NSX or the Legend under the Honda label instead of Acura.

Yep. Totally invented nameplate for North America. Small time, wannabe luxury at best.

The NB1 NSX was supposed to change this, followed by the RWD Legend. Both models were planned to be exclusively badged Acura following Acura's planned Europe and Japan launch.. unfortunately neither happened.
