Help Please! C63 AMG Coupe

-=Hot|Ice=-

High-Rev Hero
I was emailing back and forth with my Sales Advisor about a price we could agree on on my C63 AMG Coupe that was basically fully loaded. After about 2 emails, he told me if I wanted something cheap, I should go buy a 3 series and I should pay more for a C63 AMG. I told him I use to own a 3 series and it was a very fine vehicle. I proceeded to tell him I have an X5 and a 650i in the garage so with his attitude, I would just go buy an M3 and thanked him for his help. He then told me to "Go away and have fun".

I forwarded this email to his manager he apologized several times and I got that sorted out. I won't name the dealer out of respect for the manager because he is a good guy.

Order cancelled and I have no clue where to go from here. Anyone have any suggestions and or guidance? Any tips that will lead me into the right direction will greatly help. I still want a C63 but I don't know if I have to start all over again and start a relationship with another dealer. Any advice would be a great help!

Thank you in advance.

No other dealer within reasonable range? Salesmen are the worst part of buying a car and it seems like you bumped into one that will soon be unemployed.

I was getting a couple extra goodies thrown in like the Maintenance Package for a discount and a set of winter wheels and tires at a discount with 1 or two other small things. I don't know how to play it and other dealers are roughly ~$50 a month more expensive. What sucks is that Salesmen don't really know anything about the cars they are selling. I wish dealerships would at least try to train these salesmen. I wish the guy the best, but you just don't treat a client like that. I'm spending my hard earned money, I better get some kind of respect.

I don't think you were asking for too much at the first place. That seems like standard things to bargain about.

I agree regarding the general knowledge level of the salesmen, often one are better of searching places like this to get to know what to get and what not to.

Well, I don't really know what to get if going to another Mercedes dealer is not an option, but I know I would never let that guy get my money.

Well firstly i have never heard off such a pathetic salesman...Secondly if his manager has appolagised can you not do the deal with the manager himself..i am shure hw will even help you further as he knows what auseless saleman he has i also suggest you forward the emails to Mercedes Benz..As for teh C63 my advise dont change your mind its a fantastic car i regret selling mine..

Your debacle is the prime reason I do all my research online and through people with good opinions so that when it's time to pull the trigger I know exactly what I want and can put my game hat on, and simply play the psychological game of sniffing desperation out and then pushing the price far down as I can.

I have been a Mercedes salesperson for over 13 years. If that response is accurate, then the salesperson should be terminated. I've dealt with Euro Motors in Bethesda, and they seem to be good guys.

The reason there are so few professionals is that you can not earn the living in this business you once used to. Mercedes slashed margins years ago. This happened at a time when Mercedes quality was in the crapper, and a lot of the career Mercedes professionals simply bailed, and moved on to new companies and careers. The market is savage today. Dealers will undermine each other at all costs. Customers will cut your throat over $500. Many customers want to pay cost, and be treated like they paid full list. Eventually something has to give. And so, you get people having bad expereinces. I talked to a friend of mine in California and he said it is just a war to see who can undersell the other. Slash the price, bribe them on the survrey and get the next one. Hardly the Mercedes I decided to build a career with back in 1998.

Anyway, if you need some help, I have a black C63 coupe on the showroom, and have no problem shipping it to your front door.
Pmail me if you want to discuss. I know the product.

All I did was spout down a deposit. The first email I got he tells me tha pt he 'doesn't feel there's a need to negotiate so early in the process'.

The this is part of your "problem".

If you had fixed the price from the beginning, you wouldn't have to negotiate later. Also, not having a fixed price, mean that you will negotiate, and then happens what teenbm accurately describe in his post. The salesman will try to milk you out :D

Looks like I learned that lesson the hard way. :(

Tell the manager that you are ready to give them another chance, and that you expect to be treated better this time. And see what that gets you!

Email to the manager- "I have cooled down enough this past week to get to the point where I am willing to give YOU, not another salesman, a chance to complete this sale. If you wish to work this out, let me know.
Sincerely, pissed off guy with a ton of cars, and a large internet forum.

 at the last bit

Shameful behavior from that sales man..
You should ride them hard, make the manager feel bad about what happened, and see how he can compensate you.
Possibly you can walk away with a good deal.

If not..take your business else where..they do not deserve your money!!!

He told you to go away and have fun??

Oh. My. GOD :D :D

I would knock his teeth out. For real. And after that I'd report him to Daimler USA or something.

 at the last bit

Well... Whatever we can do to help, right? Maybe we should start a thread with the dealer name mentioned and the sales rep's name!
