Hi there, I need some help from the MB guys please! :)

I don't know much about older models in general and have been searching all night to find out exactly what this is. I believe it is a W115 280E, but it somehow doesn't look quite right when I match up pictures on the net. (Apologies for the picture quality)

It's a shame to see such a beautiful car being neglected like this, when I saw it on a recent holiday to my gran in Kenya. It belonged to my grandfather and hope to restore it someday!

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, Alwing is correct. That's a W108/W109 S-Class and not a W114/W115 E-Class.

There was also never a W108/W109 280E. The W108/W109 models had the "S" prefix in their badging. In essence you have a W108/W109 with an E-Class badge at the rear. Try finding out what model this car really is and I can help you further. I have a lot of literature on the W108/W109. It's all in German though. :t-cheers:

Many thanks to both of you for your help!

That is strange, the badge definitely says 280E... Perhaps the badge has been damaged and should be saying 280SE? I know that in Kenya there is a big problem with people stealing MB badges, but never really heard anything about model badges being stolen. Maybe it has been replaced at some point. Unfortunately my mum and gran don't know much about the car and I haven't been able to find any documentation yet!

Try taking some pictures of the engine / engine bay. There should also be a VIN number plating in that area that will tell you exactly what model this is.

From its exterior appearance I am positive it isn't a V8 model. It is definitely a 6-cylinder model, however, which means it could be anything from a 250S to a 300SE (SEL). :eusa_thin
