Hello

As there are quite few car-lovers here in the north, I decided to become a member here.

I'm living at 78 degrees north, there are only about 2000 people living here.

Currently waiting for my next car :)

Hi welcome, ive been that far up north. It's no joke!

The AMG will be perfect to get away from the polar bears, thats true..

And if anyone wonders, YES we have polar bears and it happens from time to time (but not very often) that there are bears even in the city centre.

Welcome! How is the summer season up there?

A comfortable 12 degrees!
With the occasional 1200 degrees when a
zombie dragon
flies over.

Badass. Congrats and have fun with it. The 4matic will be useful!

So Russia, Canada , Alaska or Svalbard?

Yeah not a lot of choices here. I am going with.........Canada! And his native language is French!

Svalbard is the correct answer :)

My native language is norwegian.

Quite funny that the price for my car here in Svalbard is approx 50% of the price in mainland Norway.

Which likely still makes it more expensive than the rest of Europe....

I bet an E63 S AMG costs roughly the same in Norway as a RR costs in Germany?

E63 S with most options included costs somewhere around €215k in Norway.
My car will end up at somewhere around €115k, included 19" AMG winter wheels (studded tires)

I believe this is less than the price in Germany.. I skipped the ceramic brakes, the Edition 1, carbon exterior, interior and engine cover. I've selected "everything" else.

I also live in Norway, in Aukra. Cars are not cheap here. As a kiwi I can also live on Svalbard, although the year round cold and polar bears aren't my cup of coffee!

The big one is you get 5 years warranty when I believe the same car in Germany only gets 2 years.

Maybe they think people will put more effort into maintenance if they have to outrun polar bears!

Welcome to GCF @Arctic I'm genuinely happy you weren't just a 'bot.

It's correct about the 5 years warranty, but it is limited to 100kkm (62 k miles)
With 50km of roads I guess 100kkm warranty will do just fine.
I will however bring the car to the mainland for a couple of months every year. (Nice to do a roadtrip)

The car will be a lot cheaper here on Svalbard than in Germany as a result of no taxes at all.

The Svalbard tax system is separated from the norwegian tax system, I'm actually living in a taxfree zone.
