F1 Hamilton joins the Mercedes AMG GP!

I won't be so sure Luw for the number1 statut, his future team mate is no Massa. As for the Money Autosport is saying that at last meetings Macca offered as much as Merc. But maybe he took that as an offense.

Sure his teammate isn't Massa but if there is anything Ross is good at, it's prioritising and the way he's speaking about Lewis being the teams missing ingredient for success point to Lewis having a one up on Rosberg next year. They are not paying Lewis £20 million a year not to give him a car he's not comfortable with. Ross prioritised Schumi in the past and delivered Button a car in 2009 that fit him like a spandex glove. So Lewis will get the attention champions need. Likewise Vettel got this attention last year and in 2010.

At Mclaren button is the one loved by Whitmarch. Whenever Button wins Whitmarsh is absolutely ecstatic not to mention bringing Button up in interviews about Lewis. However both are getting equal status which is both good and bad when their main rivals Alonso and Vettel have their entire teams behind them. It has nothing to do about being a prima Donna but purely about winning. Doing two things at the same time is like doing neither and in F1 it's massively expensive to design two different car specs for either driver.

The way Ross is currently speaking to the media about Lewis decision reminds me of Ross' rhetoric in 2008 when his team was Honda and was secretly pouring all their resources into the 2009 car. I think there is something impressive his sleeve for 2014 which Lewis has previewed and subsequently decided to sign.

I know the driver's nationality is always a factor for smaller teams who aren't as financially secured, so I was surprised to read Whitmarsh saying the "Britishness" of the driver lineup is somehow limiting the marketing appeal of one of the biggest and most successful team on the grid.

It's just political pull crap. Sponsors absolutely loved Lewis and the despised the ludicrous volumes of sponsorship commitments he had. Here in the UK, Santander and Vodafone milked Lewis' face like there is no tomorrow. This is the sort of PR activity that Kimi hated and made sure he would do minimal of at Lotus.

I suppose the drivers will have to realize who is actually paying for their salary and the team's budget.

You are correct. But if you are the more exotic driver in a team I.e Alonso, Lewis and Kimi then sponsors will be asking specifically for you every time they want to charm clients or customers with the perks of meeting an F1 driver. Then again getting paid £20 million a year should come with some boring tasks like all jobs do.

Do you think the world knows all the prima donnas personally before labeling them as such? When you are a public figure you will get labeled based on your public actions/utterings. And LH has more than his share of being dick publicly under his belt.

As an aside, I actually liked that Hamilton a lot when he came into the scene. When the whole Alonso-Hamilton saga was going on I was supporting LH and thought Alonso was a dick. Here was unassuming young kid challenging the WC and Alonso acting like a dick thinking the team owed him. I am still not crazy about Alonso since then, but his performance this year is winning me over. My opinion of LH on the other hand went south with his constant whining and bitching about the team.

I think people always miss the obvious with L.H, and to understand his mindset you have to think like a racer, who knows hes the quickest, and wants to do nothing but win.

Lewis has been immaculate this year, why isnt he leading the championship? Because of his team.

Remember all those races where lewis was infront of button, then macca would do the bits and button was somehow all of a sudden infront of hamilton? That happened too often.

Lewis has been let down by mclaren too much, and the terms of his contract wasnt great for his personal life it seems. Wheres the work life balance that the RBR, ferrari, and lotus drivers enjoy?

Would you not be pissed as driver, you do all you can, you are driving exceptionally, but the team keep dropping the ball. Ofcourse you will be pissed. Compare it to footballers, they get pissed over less, and move on. But because this is F1 and lewis hamilton is one of the top drivers in the world people label him as a whiner.

Lets go back to 2011. The mclaren was what, the 3rd or joint 4th fastest car?

Lewis didnt finish the championship too high up, but he hustled that car around the track and was faster than in it than it should have been. Lewis knew, that the only was to even touch the runaway redbull train, is by winning, and thats what he tried, he was quick in a poor car, and he was driving aggressive to win.

Button on the other hand, he drove so so, he wasnt pushing to win, and therefore he came home more often and finished above LH. Does that make him a better driver that year? No it doesnt, you dont race to come second, and it shows buttons mindset that he was over the moon for coming above lewis in the standings.

People like to watch racers that battle to come first, not to trundle around and hedge their bets.

Reasons why Lewis had to move on are starting to become more apparent. It seems mclaren isnt quite the team they would like us to believe. Thats added on to the list of alonso and kimi who have either come right out or hinted that as a driver, life at macca isnt too fun.

Hamilton wants to emulate Schumacher, turning around a “struggling” team

Lewis Hamilton has spoken today of his desire for a fresh challenge in Formula 1 and admitted that he has felt that way “for some time now”.
The 27 year old underlined that he relishes the challenge of trying to turn a “struggling” team around, rather than “cruise” in one of the best cars in the field.
Hamilton announced his move from McLaren to Mercedes last week and faced the cameras in Suzuka today. Speaking to the BBC, he said,
“To stay would be easy, I had two similar offers on the table. To stay in a great car didn’t really suit me. I wanted to have a challenge. I want to try working with new people. I want a challenge of taking a car that’s not very successful and and the exciting journey of trying to take that to be as successful as the car I’m in now.
Asked if he wanted to emulate Michael Schumacher who went to Ferrari in 1996 when it was uncompetitive and helped to turn the team around Hamilton said,
“That’s it exactly. I don’t feel like any of the drivers are doing that nowadays. I could take the easy route and stay here and cruise on with a great team, a great car, making decent money. But that’s not what I want to do. I want to go and struggle. I want to go and help a team that is struggling, to get to the top and start winning. That’s going to be the coolest, the most satisfying feeling if we do get there.
“And if we don’t, I’ll only be 31 at the end of it (3 year contract)…so keep the door open for me (he would say to McLaren)
“I’ll always have McLaren at heart, because that’s how I’ve grown up, it’s my home.
“Next year is going to be tough, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. ”

Hamilton also said that he had spoken to McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh about his reasons for leaving, but had not been able to speak yet to Ron Dennis, who mentored Hamilton since he was 13 years old.
He said he would visit him in person after the Korean Grand Prix in the factory at Woking.

Meanwhile Hamilton’s new team-mate Nico Rosberg has said that he spoke to Hamilton about Mercedes when it became clear that he might be doing a deal,
“We spoke about it a little before, when the possibility was there,” said Rosberg. “We were laughing about it!
“And we spoke about it when we were 14 years old in go-karts. ‘Imagine if, one day, we’re team-mates in F1, how cool would that be?’ Now, all of a sudden, that’s happening, which is unreal.
“I didn’t necessarily talk him into it. I tried to stay quite objective. Yes, I mentioned the positives but he asked me a few things and I gave honest answers."

Hamilton backtracks on perceived snub

Lewis Hamilton has been forced to backtrack after accusing Jenson Button of unfollowing him on Twitter only to realise he wasn't following him to start with.
Hamilton, who is off to Mercedes next season, created a stir on Sunday night when he accused his McLaren team-mate Button of disrespecting him on the social network website.
"Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, thats a shame. After 3 years as teammates, I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn't," Hamilton said on his Twitter feed on Monday.
"Funny thing is, we are STILL teammates! All good tho, I plan on giving this team & fans all I got til I cross the finish line in brazil!!!."
An hour later, though, Hamilton was forced into a U-Turn in front of his 1.1 million followers as it turns out Button never followed him to start with.
"My bad, just found out Jenson never followed me. Don't blame him! Need to be on Twitter more," he Tweeted.

This is just extremely embarrassing. Lewis is too distracted.

Lol, what a drama queen. You would think he learned to think twice before tweeting after last time. Funniest part is, his prognosis is, he needs to be on Twitter more, haha.

This latest saga is probably just the tip of the ice berg, if this is enough to tick him off, then what goes on behind the close door must be quite something.

Hamilton not expecting miracles at Mercedes

(CNN) -- Lewis Hamilton says it would be "spectacular" if his new Mercedes team were able to compete when the 2013 Formula One season begins in March, but the 2008 world champion is not expecting to challenge at the front of the grid.
