The Guntherwerks Project F-26 Is a 1000 HP Slantnose Fighter Jet

Motorsport-grade ABS and adaptive suspensions modernize this homage to Porsche's 935 Slantnose racer.

Porsche's Slantnose front-fascia lived a brief life and was not all that fetching, but the oddball design legacy holds a special place in motorsports history. It was a homologation special for one of the brand's great racers, and the Porsche 935 and its smushed face represent a moment of open innovation in the German brand's legacy. Now, Guntherwerks is taking that same spirit and cranking up the boost.

Guntherwerks is already well known for building bonkers Porsche-based models. Its latest creation is known as the Project F-26. Revealed at the Quail during Monterey Car Week, the Guntherwerks Project F-26 uses the basic Slantnose design as its base, but nothing else about this model is vintage. The F-26 moniker is supposed to remind you of fast fighter jets, as Guntherwerks did not hold back on the power.

The Project F-26 is powered by a Rothsport Racing developed, air-cooled, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six engine, which puts down 1000 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. All that power is funneled through a six-speed manual transmission and sent to the rear-wheels through a limited-slip differential. Big horsepower numbers like that require lots of cooling, so Guntherwerks has installed a race-derived flat fan, an all-new carbon fiber intake system, and a carbon fiber charge pipe to ensure air is flowing through this big-block flat-six. An intake integrated blowoff valve and the custom, 935-style exhaust with external wastegates ensures that all the appropriate turbocharged noises will exude from the F-26.

Keeping a 2700 pound Porsche with 1000 hp on the road is no easy feat, but Guntherwerks has fitted the F-26 with a staggered tire setup that should help. 335mm section Continental ExtremeContact Force tires come standard on the rear of the F-26 while slightly smaller 295mm section help the small-boned model turn in. A modern traction control system as well as a motorsport-derived ABS system will also keep the F-26 in check. The F-26 also gets an all-new double-wishbone front suspension setup and adaptive JRZ dampers. The rear wheelbase has also been extended by 30 millimeters to ensure dynamic stability and to improve the center of gravity.

These powertrain and suspension upgrades are the markers of a modern build, but the visual assets of the F-26 pay less attention to the 935 era. Pop-up headlights are replaced by fixed units on the F-26 and are housed inside a carbon-fiber front-end, of course. Other motorsports-inspired exterior pieces include side-intake system and a big wing that provides an undisclosed amount of downforce. The interior of the F-26 is where its modernity really shines, adorned in exposed carbon trim and an Alcantara headliner. Custom leather upholstery is standard and a Porsche Classic radio with Apple CarPlay means you won't miss out on your favorite streaming services.

A limited run of 26 units will be made, hence the F-26 nameplate. Each of these 26 units will be built bespoke for the exclusive crop of customers. Pricing and production details have yet to be revealed, but we wouldn't hold our breath for the F-26 to drop below $1 million. If it comes in at over $1 million, the company's previous work suggests that it may warrant that absurd price tag.

Project F-26 marks Gunther Werks' first Slantnose-inspired build, producing 1,000 horsepower

Monterey, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2025) – Gunther Werks unveiled its first Slantnose-inspired build at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 15. Project F-26 marks the culmination of everything Gunther Werks has learned since its first build, revolutionizing the Turbo platform to deliver a staggering 1,000 horsepower.

Project F-26 gets its name from the aerodynamic shape of a fighter jet and its limited production of 26 units. Visually, F-26 takes inspiration from the iconic Porsche 935 Slantnose and the Porsche Slantnose road car, combining timeless design with Gunther Werks' innovative carbon-fiber process and a focus on performance.

Coated in custom metallic paint, the F-26 features a carbon fiber high-downforce wing, new rear panels with an aggressive side intake design and a squared off rear fender, all punctuated by a dramatic Slantnose front end that recalls one of Porsche’s boldest design experiments. The in-house engineered carbon-fiber front end replaces the original Slantnose pop-up headlights with fixed units, enhancing airflow and reducing drag. This lightweight design results in a curb weight of only 2,700 pounds.

Power is supplied by Gunther Werks' air-cooled twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six engine, co-developed by Rothsport Racing. It produces 1,000 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque and connects to a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Keeping the engine cool is a race-derived flat fan, which provides more than double the volume of air than a standard vertical fan, but more significantly provides even cooling to all six cylinders. Additional upgrades include an all-new carbon fiber airbox, a redesigned intercooler plenum and integrated blowoff valves within the intake system. F-26 runs on high-octane ethanol with adaptive fuel mapping for standard high-octane gasoline. Lightweight carbon fiber charge pipes feed the engine with the charged air to ensure the best response for the turbos. A custom 935-style exhaust with external wastegates gives F-26 its distinctive sound.

Project F-26 is equipped with staggered Turbo Twist magnesium monoblock wheels, wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Force tires, measuring 295/30R18 up front and 335/30R18 in the rear. The chassis features all-new double-wishbone front suspension, adaptive JRZ dampers, motorsport-grade ABS and advanced traction control. The rear wheelbase has been extended 30 millimeters to the rear, creating a longer wheelbase and improving the engine’s center of gravity.

The interior of the F-26 highlights function and craftsmanship, featuring exposed carbon fiber, custom leather upholstery and Alcantara headliner accents. The steering wheel draws inspiration from the wing-angle profile of a fighter jet, while the wooden shift knob pays tribute to Porsche’s racing heritage. A contemporary dashboard combines a Porsche Classic radio with Apple CarPlay, blending vintage charm with modern convenience.

“The Slantnose is a bold icon from Porsche’s past,” says Peter Nam, founder of Gunther Werks. “The timing felt right to reimagine it with modern craftsmanship and engineering. It's our way of bridging nostalgia with next-gen performance for the modern driver.”

Production is limited to 26 units, each tailored for the discerning driver who desires an analog, yet modern performance experience. For more information on Gunther Werks and the F-26, visit www.guntherwerks.com.
