Hi everyone! I purchased a Chevy Aveo a few years ago. Since I bought it I´ve pretty much been happy with it. Picture for reference:

The only thing I´ve always hated is the shifter. It has a lot of play and it just overall feels terrible to drive. It looks something like this:

Those plastic bushigns are just terrible quality, and they have tons of play even when fresh out of the box.

I have been toying with the idea of replacing this bushings with bearings / ball joints.

Do you guys think this is a good idea? It would basically be something like this:

Just as a note: I´m a pretty good welder and good with tools in general.

I´m looking forward for your input!
