Video Games Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue (PS3) Thread

Guess so. Come to think of it, GT5 Prologue was quite full of bugs and had an awfull performance when released in the end of 2007.... but I expect nothing less than a perfect product now.

Perfection is some of a perception or utopia then it is an achievable goal. To me, it seems like the game is being over-engineered. Nascar, Rally, Formula 1 and whatnot. They are throwing everything into the pot and I fear the game might turn out to be jack of all trades and master of none. Regardless of how great the game is, there will still be forum trolls polluting official GT5 threads with negative rants about the game.

Report: Gran Turismo 6 already in development... your grandkids will love it

Few driving games have the kind of cult following of Gran Turismo. But though less than two years separated the release of the original to the first sequel, and from that to Gran Turismo 3, it took four years for Polyphony to follow up with Gran Turismo 4. Still, that's nothing compared to the wait we've been forced to endure to Gran Turismo 5.

Quite possibly the most highly-anticipated driving game ever released, we've been waiting on it for years, with only a couple of updates (like the PS3-ized GT4 HD and the GT5 Prologue) and a constant stream of conjecture to keep us interested in the meantime. Sony and Polyphony swear it'll be here any day now, but while we grow tired of keeping our fingers crossed, reports are already looking further down the road.

That's right, while GT5 isn't even out the door yet, reports are emerging on the development of GT6. Speaking with Kazunori Yamauchi – the driving force behind the franchise pictured above – AutoWeek asked if work had already begun on the sixth installment. Yamauchi confirmed that they're working on it, but would say no more. All we can say is that it likely won't be here for some time to come, and who knows what cars will even look like by then.

Officially Official: Gran Turismo 5 on sale Nov. 24 in U.S.

Gran Turismo 5 fans, it's time to rejoice! On the U.S. Playstation blog, the manger of the public relations team has posted a North American on sale date of Wednesday, November 24. Fingers crossed that this doesn't get pushed back yet again! We have a feeling this date is going to stick, though, because Kazunori Yamauchi, the President of Polyphony Digital Inc. has added this statement:

"Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre.

With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans.

Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly.

I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."

He wasn't kidding when he says GT5 offers a "wealth of driving experiences." Even though it's still two weeks away, we can't decide if we want to hit the WRC courses or the street courses first. Regardless, our Thanksgiving celebrations just got rearranged.

^Hahhaha..it started beliveable..and then just got out of hand osna:)

Love that article title for GT6 - your grandkids will love it

Anyway, as much as I am excited for the game, the car list disappointed me a bit. It seems most of the cars are from GT4 and with all the extending the release date stuff, i just expected more cars (or cars I personally wanted to see in the game). Also, GT5 without factory Porsches (not RUF) seems a bit incomplete in a racing game, but there's no way around it.

Got this from notification amazon today.

Hello,

We have received new release date information related to the order you placed on December 07 2009 (Order# xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). The item(s) listed below will actually ship sooner than we originally expected based on the new release date:

"Gran Turismo 5"
Previous estimated arrival date: January 05 2011
New estimated arrival date: November 30 2010

I never seen software ship earlier, may be they looked at all the revenue they would loose by skipping the holiday season and decided to ship it as is with bugs and patch it later with updates. So expect a lot of bugs initially...

...not to mention the DLCs that will have to come, because of the less than complete car list. I get a feeling that not that much has been added from GT4/GT5P and that US and European enthusiast cars from the 80's and 90's are notably scarce.

To visualise my point, here are the cars from 1980-1999 in Gran Turismo 5. Notice anything?
