Errrm, no, I don't think so Yannis. You know what I reckon? In any dynamic scenario where precipitation isn't a factor then rear-wheel drive is an advantage over part-time four-wheel drive. I don't care what some opinionated journo's point-of-view is, the rules of traction and grip haven't changed overnight. There's no doubting that the R32 is a fine piece of kit and a very resolved one at that (the previous R32 received rave reviews so there's no reason why this one shouldn't be even better) but it's incorrect to assume that because someone rated a car subjectively during a driving impression that all of a sudden a Haldex-based system is superior to rwd or vice versa and so on. The 1er may perhaps be compromised from a ride vs. handling trade-off or whatever else, who knows? We can only rely on on the subjective analysis of the journo on the day. Want real confirmation? Wait for the PCOTY articles in EVO and CAR at the end of the year... hopefully they'll have a 130i and an R32.
